Canon Pixma ip4300 won't print text and won't print the pgbk test pattern

Oh now I see. You think the original problem was an electrical failure and not a clog. That would explain the sudden onset of no printing text. Oh well, I only wasted a little dish washing liquid and some water.

Canon Pixma ip4300 won't print text and won't print the pgbk test pattern

I think I gave the wrong impression. I never tried printing with the cart after the 4.5 day soak. I noticed it was still bleeding ink from the pgbk slot when I was drying it so I didn't try to print with it. I just put it back in for more soaking. There's still hope!:D

Canon Pixma ip4300 won't print text and won't print the pgbk test pattern

After soaking 4.5 days more the print head still leaked pgbk ink on a paper towel as it dried! It was staining the wad of paper towel in the soak bath too but it finally stopped doing that which is why I decided to dry it out. It must be (or have been) a heck of an ink clog or just very...

Canon Pixma ip4300 won't print text and won't print the pgbk test pattern

I cleaned the print head and soaked it for 24 hours. I then left it to dry on a paper towel. My only concern before I reinstall it is that despite flushing and soaking for 24 hours I still had a black ink stain on the paper towel where I dried it. Do you think it worthwhile to soak again...

Canon Pixma ip4300 won't print text and won't print the pgbk test pattern

Ok I flooded the pads and then did a cleaning of the PGBK only. I did this twice. Both times both flooded pads were emptied of the water after cleaning. The square pad took on a more whitish appearance than before but the rectangular one remained black. Doing the 2nd step now. I can see...

Canon Pixma ip4300 won't print text and won't print the pgbk test pattern

I flood BOTH pads correct? I'm confused by what you mean by "do a simple cleaning after closing the printer doors." Does that mean to do the cleaning routine found in the maintenance tab of the Devices and Printers? (see upload photo) If so, do I do it for all nozzles or just the PGBK? When...

Canon Pixma ip4300 won't print text and won't print the pgbk test pattern

Proceeding on item 1). I see two small foam pads, one square, the other rectangular. They seem to fit the shape of the nozzles on the underside of the print head. These must be the purge pads. So once I flood these, should I do a simple clean of ALL nozzles or just the problem PGBK one? Any...

Canon Pixma ip4300 won't print text and won't print the pgbk test pattern

Well it seems like something is amiss with the printer head. I bought a new, albeit after market, PGBK cartridge but it still fails to print the test pattern and won't print text on plain paper. I tried changing the paper type and I can get the color dyes to print text that way. So I guess I...

Canon Pixma ip4300 won't print text and won't print the pgbk test pattern

Thank you for your reply I have noticed that there have been little bits of letters or text missing or not printing for a while now. But yesterday it was just nothing. It's worth trying a new cartridge to see if that fixes it. I did not know about changing the paper setting. That is a good...

Canon Pixma ip4300 won't print text and won't print the pgbk test pattern

Hello, My printing has been looking more and more washed out. Not really deep black on the text and any colors look pale also. I now notice that the ink level of the PGBK has not decreased despite printing for a good bit. I suspect it has been not really working well for a while but still...

    Greetings to all

Brand new member here. Joined because I'm seeking help with my Canon Pixma Ip4300 printer. I've had it for many years. I bought it for it's photo printing abilities but I really use it mostly for printing text or graphics. I had Epson dot matrix printers before this. This is the first...
