Epson Stylus Pro 9600 (7600 & 4000 too) Magenta ink blockage - fix

Indeed, very best of luck - if you take your time and go gently, the odds are fairly well in your favour. Take SPECIAL care of the dampers and the tiny little O-rings - You will be both horrified and strangely impressed at the ability of the printer to haemorrhage ink if they are damaged. Once...

Epson Stylus Pro 9600 (7600 & 4000 too) Magenta ink blockage - fix

It seems I didn't spot your reply at the time - so I expect this is YEARS to late to be of any help - apologies. * I am not quite sure what you mean by "residual ink" as I don't think I used that phrase, if you mean where did the gelled ink come out - then at the printhead - end of the...

Epson Stylus Pro 9600 (7600 & 4000 too) Magenta ink blockage - fix

That's interesting, as on my 9600, that was something I noticed was not the case - on mine the ink tanks go: PK, LK, C, M, LC, LM, Y The inklines go Both K's (unsure which order), Both Cyan (unsure which), Both Magenta (unsure which) Yellow. I am guessing the heads is the same as the...

Epson Stylus Pro 9600 (7600 & 4000 too) Magenta ink blockage - fix

I will do my best to help - but it is a little while since I did this - the optimistic news is that years down the line, the old 9600 is still working fine. Sometimes have to wipe the encoder strip (with great care) and empty / reset the waste tank, but she keeps plodding along. I have just...

HP Designjet 500 plus - magenta ink fails - but only on long prints

Thanks for that. I do have the manual but although it refers to "recovering the printheads" I cannot find the specified procedure. I am guessing it is the printhead at fault now - as they have a built in reservoir and filter - so I am guessing the filter is blocked - even though it is not yet...

HP Designjet 500 plus - magenta ink fails - but only on long prints

Hello. I am wondering of anyone can guide me a little on this please. I have an HP Designjet 500 which is running still on original HP inks (albeit old ones) and generally speaking the printer produces excellent quality prints all things considered. About a month ago, for the first time ever...

Colours Wrong? Inconsistend colour balance? Refillable tank/cartridge?

The reason is that with the dye inks, you can just carefully top up the tank and leave it be - there will be no "settling" even if you don't print for months. With pigment ink though as you know, it VERY slowly settles out - so it is not a bad idea to give the cartridges / tanks a gentle shake...

Colours Wrong? Inconsistend colour balance? Refillable tank/cartridge?

This might just be of interest to folks who are using CISS OR refillable cartridges with the little air-filters that sit on top of the ink tanks. This is mostly for people using pigment ink and are experiencing printouts where the colour can vary from one print to another - or even (in the case...

Colours Wrong? Inconsistend colour balance? Refillable tank/cartridge?

No, the little tiny plug in air filters that go into the breather holes on the ink tanks for a refillable tank as opposed to the regular ones. Sorry, I should have made that clearer as the system is always CISS to begin with. I will correct to make it clear I mean refillable cartridges using the...

Epson Stylus Pro 9600 printing on polycotton

Hi Piers. I have the gap set to maximum and the material so taut that I do not think there is any chance of head contact - yet I too find the "vomit" of ink is an issue. It will print fine for several inches and then "drips away". I am trying to work out what could cause it - as if the print...

Epson Stylus Pro 9600 printing on polycotton

Awesome result Piers! My endeavours have been less encouraging - I can get the printer to print the material well for the most part (though you are spot on about the frustrating "up down shuffle" it likes to do before printing) but it seems to be dripping ink on the material for some reason...

Epson printheads Usage History Sheet and poor nozzle check

Yes, they are similar (very in many ways) and I know most companies use the cheaper prop-2 in their formulation because of that. For that matter, as you know, methanol is similar in many ways to ethanol - but is a grim compound if ingested due primarily to its metabolites (and I do not use any...

I don't understand you. Are you asking if propan-1-ol is the same as propan-2-ol ?

Sorry, long day already. AMMONIUM HYDROXIDE - NH4OH, not NaOH !!! Will confirm ZERO sodium hydroxide present - I will edit other post to clarify :)

Epson printheads Usage History Sheet and poor nozzle check

At this stage I am VERY happy to give the product away totally free to anyone on here in exchange for an SAE but as it has outperformed pretty much everything else I have tried in the past and I have spent around 150-200 hours in trying different ratios to clean dried ink, heated dried ink...

Epson printheads Usage History Sheet and poor nozzle check

Hi Team 8 It's completely upto you BUT if you would like to send me a private message, I will give you my address. Bung me a LARGE SAE and I will send you some printhead cleaner I use on my Epson 9600. It's an old printer but it uses pigment inks and (without wishing to tempt fate), the cleaner...

Hi - new member with an Anet A2

I think the Anet printers offer astounding value for money, yes you have to assemble them yourself - but that also means you know pretty much EXACTLY how to repair one if and when it fails. Much better than buying a box closed in on 5 sides out of six that is not meant for end user repair or...

Hi - new member with an Anet A2

Hi. Thought I would say hi as I have just bought and assembled an Anet A2 and had a little go to see what it will do. A dinky little test print (still took abuot 20 minutes) was encouraging when printed with PLA. Yet to play with ABS, though that is the material of choice as it is stronger and...

    50mm > 75mm roll adapters - Any idea where I can buy a couple?

It starts............ And a slightly further away shot for the 3D printer fans, (Anet A2), the litre bottles o ink in the background are for the Epson 9600 above it. I think was the other adapter as I moved one on the layout while "playing". And here are two we prepared earlier (later...
