Just wondering if anyone has converted their 4800 to dye ink? If so how did it go and how did picture quality compare? and would dye ink adversely affect the Printhead? Also wondering about a good source of ink in Uk Anyone tried lyson/ mauritt inks? many Thanks for your help!

Thanks Peter, that link leads on to a lot of useful stuff and of course the power modules are very similar in design. Its quite a few years since I was pulling out components, but it would be satisfying to repair rather than replace.

Great it worked out...in Uk that head costs 100- 140 or $150-$210 in US money. We can get a new IX6550 for that here. No wonder so many printers head for the dustbin!
