Getting some leaking today after it's been sitting overnight. No longer leaking through the colour cartridges (was previously) but getting some dribbling from the black on my first print of the day after letting it sit overnight. Forgot to post last night that I'd pushed the plugs in and had a...
I bought them from MIS, so they're the same as the ones documented in the instructions.
It'll be difficult to seal with aluminium tape, since the cartridge design is kind of funny. There's a layer of plastic over top of the ink tanks, and a gap between the top of the ink tanks and the top of...
The ink in the top was due to a filling mishap where I fumbled the cartridge when filling Cyan and Yellow, and some spilled out into the void between the top of each reservoir and the top of the cartridge. I wicked out as much as possible, and let the rest dry there before continuing.
I'm...
Cleaned up the squeegee and it printed well for a single purge pattern on plain paper. Then I switched the driver to Premium Presentation Paper Matte, loaded in a sheet of ultra premium presentation paper matte, and sent a test print through. Toward the end of my test print, I encountered...
I'm using the refillables because I've swapped from OEM dye to pigment inks, and I didn't want to use OEM carts with dye residue in them. an empty refillable would be a good place to start with pigments.
I'll see about the ink buildup. This just started since I popped the air vents, and was...
Okay, I've removed the rubber plugs, here are a couple photos, of during and after:
Above photo is during, showing some plugs removed, some still in place.
Above photo is with all plugs removed, just to illustrate rather gaping holes left.
A test print showed ink definitely flowing...
Aha! I have the clear plastic plugs. I'll see if I can't remove those and get it working. I didn't want to pull them in case I wound up with too much air going into the cartridge, and letting the ink drip out the bottom when not in use,
I'll post back when I've done testing!
Cheers!

Hello folks!
I have a set of T007/T009 refillable cartridges for my 1280, and filled them for the first time, then primed the exit ports with the bottom fill adapters I have.
My problem is that a vacuum develops in the cartridges, and starves the printhead. It doesn't seem like the air...
Hmm. It seems like the current pigment-based A3 Canon is the i9500 MkII, and some googling has found that folks aren't as happy with its output as they are with it's epson contemporaries, though they are happier with the reliability. I'll have to look at some test prints.
Though it still...
I've been using Epson printers since they were beige, and I've come to know, appreciate, and sometimes love their quirks. I'm not as current as I used to be with the inkjet world (last time I did any "real" printing, the R800/1800 were spankin' new) but back when I was a bit more in to things...
I'm going to be doing fine art prints, and longevity and quality is important for me. Some research told me that the 1280 can handle pigment inks with minimal problems, so long as proper precautions are taken in order to avoid clogging, about the same as any pigment printer, from what I've...
Hello Folks!
I've recently started looking around at alternative options to OEM inks in my printers as a cost-saving measure, and have made the happy discovery that not only can I find decent inks, I can run pigments in my printers! (1280, R220, and R300)
I'm not ready to jump to CISS yet, and...
