I should add, this is not the deal with that MS KB update causing a similar problem. That update was never installed.

Out of the blue (well almost) the Scanner function has stop working. The machine goes thru the cycle of scanning, but no file is produced. I've never had a problem with this on more than one of theses printers. Here is what I have done; Did a search, but nothing other than a bad MS KB update...

Convinced! I bought 4 completely refurbished sets.

"Used ink" as in ink that was already in a cart that was refilled?

Other than a "fungal infection", any thing else affect the ink as far as actual longevity and print quality?

Here it is;

As in this one specifically; https://www.ebay.com/itm/303569881545?hash=item46ae2cc9c9:g:tZkAAOSwZbJewMJZ What a write up. I specifically noted the comment about Precision Colors disco'ing their empty carts. :eek:

Understood about the clips I use them all the time, but most of these don't seem to have them including the example.

Aren't Epson printheads more 'fussy' (fragile) overall?

You are referring to these; https://www.ebay.com/itm/123893552912?hash=item1cd8a19710:g:654AAOSwNlxda9jh I asked the seller this; How long have these been empty?? Don't the sponges dry out fast when empty...

The carts I have used were new, never filled, empty aftermarket carts, not ones that were filled with ink. Just like what you linked. Unless I missed something here, I'm confused about buying empty used Canon OEM carts. I don't know how long the sponges were empty or almost empty.

Or ARC carts that do read ink levels which I now understand most do not. Which I found out the hard way thru Ink Owl in spite of what their tech told me.. The specific carts I'm looking for are refillable PGI-5(BK) and CLI-8(C,M,Y,BK). I did find these...

As in you can't refill or reset Canon OEM carts. I never bought any. As I stated, I never had "auto" reset carts before. If I knew that I probably wouldn't of ordered them and looked elsewhere. I've dealt with Ink Owl before with no issues, but only for ink. BTW, I did on the offer.

Printer is new, the model is 15 years old. I have been treating it like gold. Understood about letting carts going dry, but that was due to the lack of indication to ink levels which wasn't my fault. I was just going to find another source for empty carts. I thought Canon OEM carts are only...

Details; Canon ip4300 printer (new purchased a few years ago, just placed in service to replace the same model with maxed out waste ink pads. Ink Owl auto resetable carts (no need for a chip resetter) PGI-5 & CLI-8) Carts are replacing older 3rd party (that needed a resetter) where the sponges...

A partially corrected order chronically (corrections needed & welcomed); 3e Compatibles: BJC-3000, BJC-6000, FAX C855, i550, i560, i850, i860, Multipass C755, Multipass F30, Multipass F50, Multipass F60, Multipass F80, Multipass MP700, Multipass MP730, iP3000, iP4000, iP4000R...

Are those AIO machines? Are you talking about the TS/TR 8320/8520?

I came across this list of printer carts and the models they use. It came from Inkjet411.com My question is; is this in chronological order of the cart series? It appears it is, but couple may be out of order (Canon 6 for example).

Knock on wood, but refilling I have been fairly successful with it Both with my old i560 and now with the 4300. It's the printheads where the problem is. I have a 2nd set of carts all reset & refilled I just swap out with the carts inside the machine as needed tiring not to run the carts dry. ;)

May be I should ask, of the recent models (current or 1 generation previous models), what models or series of models have resettable carts if any?
