Thanks for info. Tried the eraser and got a red light illumination. Thought I'd cracked it but Cartridge still not recognised. Obviously the chip is kaput.

One of my cartridges can be reset on my redsetter but my printer will not recognise it (no red light etc.) I'm a bit tight when it comes to throwing away empty carts and just wondered if anything can be done with the chip.

Like jflan I use home made cleaning cartridges but filled with heated water or whatever mixture you prefer. I have found that a heated (not boiling) solution often breaks down the dried ink.
