Okay, so...just to be clear, it would not be worth buying another yellow cartridge to try?

Mikling: I printed another "yellow" purge page and got results similar to the last print I posted-green eventually moving towards lighter green/yellow-ish with dark horizontal lines. What causes the dark horizontal lines? Hat: But the black cartridge is brand new. Just bought it two weeks ago.

So, what do my latest test prints suggest? Are the black lines indicative of anything particular? Can I resolve the problem somehow?

Mikling: When you said "This is one mode of older printhead failure", does that type of failure come from usage/wear alone? Or can it come from age. Cause we seem to believe this printer has seen very little use. TPAGE=160 or so when I got it, assuming the numbers can be believed.

Okay, I did a purge page with yellow and magenta. I didn't know how to do PM, so I just made the Magenta really light. Is that alright? Scanned at 400 dpi. The other colour/banding/whatever in the yellow is obvious. I noticed it gets lighter near the bottom (towards the end of printing?). Does...

Ok, well on the nozzle test, yellow is coming out as yellow, AFAICT. But on the spreasheet, yellow is still coming out green with banding/darker green stripes through it. What's my next step?

Wait...I'm confused. I cleaned the white foam thing. That is the waste ink pads? Where are the purge pads on an IP6600? Do I still need to clean them?

Okay, wait...I just learned a few days ago an acquaintance of mine has an Officejet 8620. Would it be a good idea for me to borrow her print head with cartridges still in it, temporarily install it into my 8600 Pro to see if I could get it to work, or will that create problems ? Thanks
