Welcome to the forum, Mike :)
1. It's always best to start your own thread so that your issues can be focused on exclusively
2. Be sure to include some background...
How much use has the printer seen
Are you printing in Standard or High Quality
What paper type
Type of ink you are using
A scan...
Agree.
Next thing you know, he and his mates will be outside your house with pitchforks and flaming torches :o
You might want to have the squire ready your steed and armor :D
This isn't what you want to hear, but return it if you can.

Because these new models are so unsavory to refillers/power users, many of us are hoarding a last generation Canon or two.
On some Canon printheads the ceramic base shoe cannot be completely removed without risking fatal damage to the ribbon cable. It appears to be installed after the base shoe, during manufacturing.
It is also surprising at how much torque has been applied to the retaining screws.
I would give the...
Yep, that's a killer deal for MP610....I already have one one ice or I'd be pulling the trigger on that one.
iP4500 is very hard to find now. Looks like all the usual suspects have sold them out.
eBay show, now.
It is preferred only if one wants an AIO.
iP4500 uses the same print engine.

I would stay away from printers taking 220-221/520-521 cartridges at this time (namely MP620. iP4600 and others)
Reason being, smaller cartridges and presently not user-resetable (chips).
Grab a MP610 or iP4500 (or similar) while you can.
Well at least he's out of your hair for a while....
He's probably still reading your response and trying to figure out what all those big words mean :)
Windex Original with AmmoniaD reportedly has about 5-6% ammonia content and works quite well as we know for breaking up inkjet clogs.
I would not however, put straight ammonia into one of my printers.
At first glance it sounded like a Windows error report...so this was an error report on the printer's LCD ?
Before doing a repair install, you could try running a checkdisk (chkdsk) and/or the System File Protection service.
Don't know which OS, this is XP...
stratman,
Aside from the ink situation....
Sounds like it could be a driver issue.
You could check in Device Manager for any conflicts (yellow flags)
If so, you could try uninstalling your printer driver, shutdown and then let Windows reinstall the device.
If that doesn't help and it were...
Who doesn't ?
If it's not model, it's full scale.
Here's my neighborhood rig :

When you hear the sound of the 4449, it creates a stir in the soul like nothing else.
If you can read/follow instructions and operate your fingers, you're in.
Gobs of...
I'm also one who prefers a standalone printer and scanner.
Never had a Canon scanner, but have had very good luck with lightly used scanners found on Craigslist.
HP 3400c, HP 3500c and an Epson 636U.
All worked fine with my Canon printers.
The HP's were lower end but the Epson, I really like...
Hey Froggy....
When it comes down to it, we'll stand shoulder-to-shoulder.
Cheers, brother.
Now, will you please stop telling those jokes and chill your beer :D
