Congrats, I never had lasting success with the Durchstich Method and dumped all sponge filled carts and fast fading 3th party dye inks - and the printers - long ago.
Only use cartridges with a bag and (mostly Canon) pigment inks (about 10 times your price/cart but still one fifth of new ones).
Refilling the cartridges with GI-56 is the best of both worlds.
I have no issues at all since, what I couldn't say of other refill inks I've tried on the Maxify.
Seems the quality isn't the same as the cartridge ink but it isn't what I need.
I bought from E-parts and C1-supplies in the past at very reasonable prices.
But since PRO-100/200 PRO/10/300/310 printheads seldom fail before the printer itself, Canon should have ample supplies.
Very strange...
I know the day the Russians, Chinese, Americans or whoever invade my country I could be arrested for insubordination :)
But not before the ones - who probably mean what they say - on Facebook, X and the like.
Adobe already adopted this policy (although I am not very impressed by their AI generations - the stock lost 30% over a year).
The disappearance of the legacy software on X-Rite and Calibrate sites is a concertated action (where Keith Cooper warned for), but I doubt calibrate will push it so...
This is another discussion, personally I am not so paranoiac .
I would only mention that:
a) the last Colormunki software from X-Rite still works on the latest WIN version,
b) for those who are even more confident than myself, a rather moderate upgrade cost liberates them from archiving...
The upgrade for older hardware costs € 69.90 and you can get a 20% from Keith Cooper (before Oct 15).
I downloaded Profiler3, it detects the Colormunki, but in demo mode it stops after the first pattern print.
So I couldn't check if it contains enhancements.
I doubt about it (Keith too).
FYI...
The contamination is related to the time of inactivity and the ink level differences (ink of full cartridges will seep into the more empty ones).
In my printer it is almost always magenta being invaded by cyan. Strange enough with yellow, even low, I didn't observe it since long.
To be clear...
I suppose this is what happens (when you do not print enough).
As @Artur5 found out, the printhead has a buffer with a few ml ink for every colour. Most of the time the contamination does not rise into the cartridge.
Why doesn't this occur with fresh OEM carts (or does it) ?
Maybe they are...
Can confirm previous experiences.
Since I refill the OEM carts with ink from GI-56 bottles (for the ink tank Maxify types) everything works quite well.
Only issue remaining is cross-contamination when the ink levels differ too much. I solve this by printing a number of sheets with the infected...
I have 2 printers and a scanner connected with a 5m USB 2.0 cable with an amplifier (with 3 connectors) at the end. Never had any problems. But it is old and rather slow technology.
My Maxify is connected via Wifi as a network printer. This way any PC, phone or tablet can print directly...
As long as I refill with 3th party inks I always inspected nozzle checks with a magnifying glass to detect the first signs of clogging.
Red pigments have been the most suspicious. As discussed magenta was the only color where Octoinkjet had some clogging issues. Except for Precisioncolors I...
I purchased inks from Precisioncolors for years at minimum cost (2 bottles each time to avoid taxes).
Best (Canon) 3th party inks I ever had.
Sadly enough he had many problems sending overseas this way and the official route was too expensive.
Mike must have invested an enormous amount of time...
WIN11 24H2 seems to install with another default settings for color profiles, but I did not observe particular problems myself.
Not related to color issues, but since I reinstalled WIN11 from scratch on my desktop - always updated from WIN8 to 10 to 11 - it is much snappier I must say. Still...
Just as the pigment inks in my PRO-10 and Maxify have negligible gloss differences on a fair number of glossy (and in particular pearl) papers. Never seen the dreaded "bronzing" either.
(Dis)advantages of both ink types are grossly exagerated.
Since I mostly print glossy, if I had to start...
From own experience I agree with @Artur5.
Buy a PFI-106M cart (130ml) to refill. PFI-1000M (80ml) would do also (no experience).
Not cheap but half price/ml versus PGI-72M. Maybe you could find an expired one on eBay (they last forever).
Since you have to replace only a few colors your average...
Interesting discussion again.
BUT as I understand from the many positive reviews of the ET-8550, the dye inks - as genuine Epson - should have a fairly good fade resistance. The printer seems to be a star in making very glossy prints.
So why would you want to fill it with pigment inks - except...
