I used to pop up the PG40 and inject ink into the white sponge, I tried this way today: After pop the cover off , I lifted the white sponge and noticed that the ink mark on the sponge only reached about 1/2 the height of the sponge, and by taking out the sponge, you can see the screen above the...
Well, if I remember correctly, there is the menu button that allows you to select general setup. Go the 'ink'position by using the up and down arrow, it will give you the option of 'clean' or 'print test page', just select clean and it will do a clean routine, then print the test see if you get...
Hi everybody,
I spend quite a bit of time looking at this particular topic tonight, it is sure interesting to see so many replies in one day that I have to throw in my 2 bits.
I like to print pictures but don't like fixing printers. I refill all my cartridges so I can print cheap. As far...
Just an idea, some day some smart guy will reveal the secret of ink making, and it is like coca-cola, there is now Pepsi, root beer and so on. But boy, I think this forum will be closed down by the printer manufacturers fast same as the big oil companies don't like the idea of electric cars...
I think most members in this forum will recommend Canon, I for one just bought an ip3400 for $59 Can. Reliable, cheap, big black ink cartridge, refill is done 5 minutes for the whole 4 colors, did not need much head cleaning. Cartridges are transparent so you can monitor ink level anytime. I am...
Very informative indeed Grandad35, but I think HP will have a hard time competing with the other printer producers, according to the printers on sale in the stores, Epson and Canon are running head to head whereas Hp concentrates more on selling personal computers, (I always visit the computer...
Thanks Mikling,
I checked the specs on both cartridges they both have 416 nozzles, but the dot size on the hp56 is 14 pl and the hp92 is 17 pl, wonder what pl stands for. I just find the 92 is much more difficult to fix than the 56. they used the same housing except the hp92 have a sponge about...
Hi, mikling, looks like members in this forum talk mostly on canon printers, I have the HP7350 too, and this ink dry up has always made me wonder how does that happened. It is not as serious on the HP56 cartridge but also happens a lot. If I left the HP not printing for a few days, the print...
It says 5 mils in the outside OEM box, but seems the amount I inject into the 92 does not cause the nozzles dry up. The old hp 45 holds 40 mils, the hp 56 holds 19 mils, the 92 holds 5mils, and the hp02 holds 2mils! I think HP is trying to make us harder to refill their cartridges, they drop the...
I have this problem in refilling the HP92 cartridges, it seems the ink dries up very fast. Right after I refilled the hp92, the printer printed with no problem. But after I left the cartridge in the printer for a day of so, the cartridge will not print, I took it out and press the print head on...
I agree with ghwellsjr, you would be better off to stay with the Canon, try the ip4300, but you can first get either of the ones you like, and after a couple of refills, you'll find they both are much harder to handle than the Canon.
The HP 4180 has a cartridge that only holds less than 10 mils...
Well sdmnh39, I had experience with Brother printers, once there are no color come out, bad news, just have to try head cleaning and hopefully it can clear the clog, otherwise use it as a b/w printer. That's why I avoid that printer though it is cheap. The other solution will be installing...
Thank you pharmacist for the settings, I tried to print some pictures today and find that every time I have to print dark color, it will not give me black. After this forum I decided to look for another canon that uses at lease 4 colors including the photo black, that way even my ink is a bit...
Hi, hpnetserver,
if you click the first scan, it will go bigger, and if you click it once more, it will go even bigger, and all the broken line will show solid and I think that is a better picture than the 2nd one.
for Grandad and hpnetserver:
Here are things I did today: I change the whole set of cartridges using original canon cli-8s,
ok now I get them all in order, they are like this:
first one is the original, 2nd one is my local ink, third is from canon OEM cli-8, I replaced all 4...
Dear Mr. Grandad,
sorry for the small pictures I uploaded, it's my first time you know. I'll do it again tomorrow
and I will use a set of new original canon cli-8 which I borrowed from my friend who bought the same printer.
The original picture is 138k and I see no...
Thank you hpnetserver, you might be right, when I do a nozzle check, I find that the yellow band is very weak,
the canon only show the nozzle grid pattern for the black, not like the hp's, so I will next clean the yellow
screen above the printhead, if it doesn't work, I still got an original...
hi mikling, just to show you what I get after switched the yellow cartridge to another ink, it is not perfect but there is changes the right way.
I'll try other ink as well
the first one is the original, the middle one is before I change the yellow, the third one is after tried another yellow...
Thanks Mikling for the information, I agree with your idea that the ink I used to refill my bci8 cartridges does not match with the original Canon ink. My friend who has a photo studio also says the ink I used is not 'accurate'.
I think I'll try other brands of inks and I'll let you know the...
