Please print a nozzle check and post it here; are you using Epson cartridges or do you do refill ?
What is the usage rate for your printer - frequently - regularly or idling most of the time ?
I assume you are reporting the issue on your listed XP-8700 ?
I'm using a WF-2010W to test inks - dye and pigment, and use several sets of type 16 cartridges with ARC chips to swap inks as needed; the printer did 24 000 pages so far
I think I need to repost this paper again - published by Epson longer time ago describing technically what is happening inside a Canon printhead but this in marketing speech. Canon printheads can be cleaned but there is no way to rejuvenate the nozzles itself, and there is no internal counter...
A printhead printing out of the box that bad is a warranty case - you rather should claim warranty
via the Ebay system to get your money back, and not trying to get it working. Your nozzle check print should be evidence enough.
@Paul Verizzo - you may have a look to this thread discussing the option to run pigment inks on the ET-8550.

There are practically no mechanical or electrical - with chips -...
This CR30 appears to be quite an interesting spectro; is there any calibration mode - or a reference tile as with the XRite spectros ?
Let me compare the profiles with a profile I did some time ago with the Action glossy paper on my ET-8550 running with Epson 106 inks; I was using an A5 patch...
Yes, I'm running the ET-8550 as well, and I have some sheets of the Action Glossy available which I profiled some time ago. I'm using the 106 inks of the ET-7750 just for pricing reasons, I'll check and compare the profile with yours by tomorrow.
The question at the end is how much you are willing to pay more for an incremental performance gain of the T54C inks.
You are the user, and you are in quite a good situation - you can select between various good inks - 106 - 114 - T54C , and you can balance price against performance. You can as...
You would need the SL-D1000 for A4 prints...Epson confirms somewhere deep in the desccriptions that all DXXX printers use the same Ultrachrome D6r-S dye inks since quite a long time.
Thee is another Epson dye ink with the best fading performance - T54C - which is used in the SL-D500 photo station printer D500 in bottles, and in larger printers like the D1000 in ink bags...
Please be aware that the Epson 107 inks in the ET-18100 have a somewhat lower fade resistance than the 106 inks which in this case is reflected in the pricing. The dfiferences are measurable but not very significant e.g. compared to 3rd party inks. I did some testing a while ago...
I'm not running my ET-8550 with the 114 inks but with the inks 106 for the ET-7750 which I previously used. I'm doing this not for reasons of bronzing or similar effects but for simple pricing reasons - 106 inks are at about at 10€ in Germany and 114 inks at 13.50€. Only the 114 gray ink is...
I don't think that I can be of further help, I work with Windows , and I'm doing a reduction of 10% when printing on the Sihl 280g ; I cannot compare test prints printed on a Mac system. I see bronzing if I don't reduce the ink density.
That's pretty bad that you don't have such control over the ink density, that'a typical adjustment on higher end and large format printers.
There is just one vairable to can give a try - the paper type itself - run your test print with a lower quality paper selection like standard glossy or...
There are several things to consider in this case -
which color(s) is affected - photoblack only ?
do you see a difference with bronzing when you compare a print printed yesterday against a print just recently - the bronzing effect may dry away overnight or reduce the effect.
You may do...
Here is a complete catalogue of InkTec inks

It's not just with the inks but as much with the papers - 3rd party papers will require you to
create icc profiles for all combinations you are going to use. Bothe the inks and papers have an impact...
