I've "forced" ink into dry sponges a few times by blowing on the refill hole with the vent covered with my thumb. i usually stabilize the ink bottle with a small u-clamp and do this right over the bottle so I do not waste any ink.
I do this three four times and usually all is good. Any you...
I'm using Linux, but maybe this little piece of info will help you. Argyll needs it's own driver, it can't use the one that comes with the colormunki software. Maybe look in the device manager to see which driver is being used.
I just found something interesting today.... there is a company on alibaba selling "single use chips" for CLI-42. They also sell the full inkset with grays, but i'm not sure I would trust ink from China...
If the chinese are now able to make one-use chips maybe ARC or resetters are around the...
You're probably right about wanting to get as good an output as possible without profile.
BUT how does this inkset do with other papers, like Canon, HP or Epson? A lot of people will also buy whatever is on sale buy one get one free at staples. That's usually how I get my hands on matte paper...
from Canon's web site:
The Optimum Image Generating (OIG) System utilizes two major technologies implemented in the PIXMA PRO-1 Professional Inkjet Printer. The first is a sophisticated mixing balance of inks determined from numerous ink combinations and advanced analysis. During this analysis...
Smile, I would say it depends what kind of expectations you have. A 25$ profile done remotely by someone on the web should give better results with 3rd party ink than trying to adjust colors with drivers or by trying to use profiles made for OEM ink.
This is where end user expectations come...
Someone at another forum had mentioned having a bit of luck with plain elmer's glue. If you search "photo paper" and "PVA" you get a ton of results. One form of PVA is white glue...
I diluted a bit of glue with distilled water and coated some cover stock paper I had... I then left it in the...
This might be interesting.. it's a patent for coated paper for inkjet printing
http://www.google.com/patents/US5985424
There are links to a ton of other related patents.
I'm not a chemist or scientist (just an IT guy!) but maybe someone here can summarize.
It's funny that you ask that Grey, I had been asking myself the same question this week.
I heard that some papers may have kaolin clay (china clay) as part of their coating. I found this interesting as I have a ton of the stuff here. :)
I just don't know how it's used yet, and in conjunction...
I might be going to the US at the end of the month, i'll keep an eye open, I thought the current aggressive prices in the states were mail in rebates. I don't think they would respect those for a US bought printer brought back to Canada
I wonder if there are ever going to be any rebates on the PRO-100 in Canada as we can see in the US. I would love to have a backup for my aging IP4500! Right now, if I had to buy a new printer, I would probably get an Epson 1430, because of the price.
Mikling, you're in Toronto, no? I think...
I'm surprised that they wasted 15 carts in cleanings and that the waste pad is only at 4.1%.
If you're not satisfied with the service center, why not simply contact canon directly and complain?
http://www.canon-europe.com/Support/Consumer_Products/Telephone_Numbers/telephone_numbers.aspx
Some aftermarket inks, even if especially formulated for Canons can have slightly different color but it shouldn't be way off.
Can you maybe link to the ink? We'd be able to see if it's at least safe for your printhead. If it's not, I highly recommend you look at other vendors.
If it is, and...
I was thinking that whatever air was escaping from the refill plugs might be "kept in" by a layer of aluminum tape over the plugs. By your picture I see that the fill plug holes are lower than the top of the cartridge itself. Just tape over the top/gap. MIS in their docs mention leaking can be a...
I wouldn't tamper with the air vents... leave them as-is they were designed that way. If you restrict them in any way, you might have the same problem you had in the beginning with ink starvation. Definitely try some aluminum tape over the ink refill plugs to make sure no air is getting in...
The carts -may- have been damaged a bit by the vacuum created by not having pulled out the air vent plugs.
Looking at the instructions from MIS for those carts, it seems that these cartridges will leak if the ink refill plug is not in real snug. Looking at your purge pattern, it seems that only...
