Epson SC 800 & p900 which one to buy

Hi @Carsten I have the P900 and my brother has the p800. I have done quite a bit of technical testing of the P900 and have shared those findings in previous posts I have made. To the first order, I doubt you would notice a difference in print quality with the P900. I would consider the...

Printing won't print solid black on documents with mixed text and color graphics

Just to let you know, you did not scan and share the nozzle check pattern. It helps to visually see the pattern (not your text description) in the debug process, yet I know that is your choice on what to share. Here is a more complete set of steps, and you have already done some of them. I used...

Brand new CANON TM-255 OEM inks - ink scratches really easy from glossy media

The papers (cut sheet and roll) are the same as far as surface finish, yet there may be some other differences, such as thickness. Once you have the Canon test papers and set the media settings for those papers, you are well on your way to understanding the capabilities of your printer and ink.

Brand new CANON TM-255 OEM inks - ink scratches really easy from glossy media

I am not in the EU yet take a look at this web address for Canon Glossy paper 20 sheets that can be delivered express: https://office1.bg/en/products/foto-hartiya-plus-glossy-ii-pp-201-260-gm2-a4-20-lista

Brand new CANON TM-255 OEM inks - ink scratches really easy from glossy media

I cannot speak to what to expect with the katana papers. It seems unusual to be that scratch sensitive and comparing to a Canon paper using the exact media setting specified by Canon would be a good benchmark for the printer and inks. I would hope the canon papers would not have that problem...

Brand new CANON TM-255 OEM inks - ink scratches really easy from glossy media

Hi @AmaDeuSbg There is no question that pigment ink has a larger propensity to sit on top of glossy papers, which can create issues. If I were in your shoes, I would get some official Canon glossy type paper, and using the exact recommended printer settings for that printer, run a test image...

Computer can't recognize my Epson 3880

Not sure about the grey for reporting the color ink levels. I found this on the web to check: Confirm via Epson Printer Utility Open: Start → Epson → Epson Printer Utility 4 → Stylus Pro 3880 Then click: EPSON Status Monitor If the utility shows color ink levels, communication is fine — the...

Computer can't recognize my Epson 3880

Have you printed anything to that printer yet as it was not clear from your post? If you have not printed anything yet, use this "print test page" approach to verify the system can print to the printer. If it does print to the printer, then this could be something from within Excel instead of...

Computer can't recognize my Epson 3880

Hi @Alan Baily You did not mention the connection type: USB, Ethernet, or Wireless The following is a list of steps (you may have already completed some). I cannot confirm this list, as I use a Mac, but I thought this might be of some help. Take all such lists with a grain of salt when not...

    Problems with no printing

Hi @nitsuj1972 A frustrating problem, yet there are some basic and easy tests to help narrow it down. You have six ink cartridges, and the black is near empty. Black is used in creating some colors, and full black often utilizes color inks as well. 1) Make sure "all" cartridges have ink...

Printing won't print solid black on documents with mixed text and color graphics

Hi Don Please print a nozzle check pattern, scan it, and post it as another reply in this thread. The nozzle check test is the first step in debugging and verifying that all nozzles are functioning properly. Here is the link for the specifics of the test pattern to which I referred: John...

    Problems with no printing

Hi @nitsuj1972 Your issue is not to hard to explain. Note that on your test image about half of the magenta is not runnning on all cyclinders (ends up being light or partial magenta): On a mostly black and white image, all the CMYK inks are being used to create that grayscale. When the...

Epson SC P900 what is going on

Sounds good. Here is a summary of the other problems for the P900, aside from a nozzle clog, and some information on how to differentiate them. This is from online, so I cannot attest to its complete accuracy, yet it sounds about right. This is a bit beyond my own knowledge, yet it was helpful...

Epson SC P900 what is going on

I think your issues are beyond my pay grade. If you want more ideas on ink clog issues, you can look at the P900 maintenance manual which can be accesed here through Scribd (90 day free subscription). Quite detailed with color diagrams etc: P700/P900 Maintenance Manul Here are two...

Epson SC P900 what is going on

Thanks. I was confused by Quad Tone RIP using different initials for the inks . V for violet is not supported yet VM (vivid Magenta) and VLM Vivid Light Magenta) are supported. I believe QTR is using M instead of VM which Epson uses, and also LM in QTR, while Epons uses VLM (see the nozzle...

Epson SC P900 what is going on

I agree with @x64. You are seeing software issues with Quad Tone RIP and it is distracting you. To help you understand, here are the Windows reelease notes for QuadToneRIO version 2.8.2 (most recent I believe). Note that it mentions not supporting all ten inks of the P900, simulating black...

Epson SC P900 what is going on

I agree with x64 about focusing on the nozzle check issues and clearing those up first both the VM and Y ink channels. I'm not sure about being able to discern the cyan leakage from the image, given its off-color, and it is a JPEG image, which can significantly alter fine colors due to its...
