Well - yes - I'm a kind of irritated, the no-BEO profile delivers a slightly better black level than with the BEO option active - Lab = 2,29 -0.19 -0.32, but this remains pretty much neutral with the a and b values. It would indicate that the BEO option does not do any good - at least.
I don't...
Thanks for the info, I'm reading a black level of Lab 2.67 0.37 -.03 for the Colormunki test, the i1Pro2 reads the same data.
That's a pretty good black level indeed , with an (almost) perfect neutral tone; it would be of interest how much of that is contributed by the Black Enhance Overcoat -...
The SC-P700/900 run with pigment inks, the ET-8550 with dye inks, their look on paper may be different. All these printers support B/W printing with the ABW - 'Adwanced Black/White function in the driver which let you easily do color tuning between sepia and cool steel blue.
Be aware that the...
I don't see the need to clean the ink paths - the inks are colorwise very similar if not identical. I did ink swapping several times - I pulled the 'old' inks out via the dampers, this lets you get hold of all the inks in the tubes etc except a few drops left. And you pull the new inks the same...
The best source for such action would be the service manual describing all actions necessary . You may need as well an adjustment program, they go typically together. One of the sources could be 2manuals.com
I'm not getting any further feedback from the 'made in China' company link; they don't take Paypal and I'm not registered on Alipay - so much for that. I suspend the search for that lamp for the time being.
These lamps are quoted for 2.5 Volts, previous lamps with 3 V, and the overall power is unclear at this time. I opened an i1Pro longer time ago to check how the UV filtering is done - with a ring UV filter in the light path for those spectros to do M2 measurements.
I'm currently waiting for...
The fading performance should always be viewed for the combination ink + paper, you frequently find statements that pigment inks last longer than dye inks which is just not correct as such a general statement.
Wilhelm Research has published tests showing that an Epson Claria dye ink performs...
Yes, I was running the L805 with pigment inks for a while, that was a mix of Chinese inks which I used as well on a 24" P7600. I converted the L805 back to dye inks at this time, this took a while because of some stubborn nozzle problems coming from the pigment inks not going away.
@The Hat - thanks for the link but those are more expensive than the Chinese ones; and I'm not clear yet about the electrical rating - 3 V or 5V and the power; I'll see.
I regret to say that I'm running out of options to fix your problem remotely, I would need the printer in front of me - e.g. I would replace the damper and use another one or watching the printout of a few nozzle checks to see if the missing nozzles remain the same or move around.
You won't see those small variances; all these tests just should show that it is impossible to rate and compare inks just with one global parameter - every ink/paper combination delivers a different result.
I think it is about enough to group the inks into a few performance classes - like...
Your Aliexpress links don't seem to work anymore; I currently don't need a lamp for repair but just as a backup.
I'm currently trying the 'made-in-China' link
I'm referring to the ink outlet at the damper - at the bottom. Just push the tube of a syringe into it and tilt it a little bit, there is a spring loaded valve in the outlet which has to open to let the ink to get through. If you take the damper out of the printhead carriage the valve closes and...
Do not push ink into the damper in the reverse direction - that may loosen the wire mesh filter.
Connect the damper to the ink tube and pull ink at the ink outlet until the little round reservoir is filled by about half, you need to keep some air in that round reservoir. Insert the damper into...
Epson is providing an 'Advanced B/W Mode' - ABW in drivers of newer A3 and A2... printers which let you adjust the color tone of the gray level from sepia to steel blue - with neutral somewhere in the middle, and this separately for the lighter and the darker grays. But you need to do a few test...
Dye inks fade - as well in the dark - and even for a longer time

Pigment inks - you would have 2 types - one for glossy papers bringing you the gloss you would expect, and there is a pigment ink for...
