I don’t..
That how I started off with a small garden lamp, but then the issue got infectious, I didn’t use someone else’s design, but made one up in my head, which was based on an original 6 metre street lamp in the city..
(1.25 metres..)
Making these objects is only part of the challenge...
Send me the details and photos and I’ll have a bash at it for you..
It might turn out useless but no harm in trying..:)
P.S. It took me five attempts to make a proper lamp standard..
Just an update on my lamp Standard…
Yesterday I went out to find one of the arms on my lamp had broken off, as to what caused it ?, because there has been no wind to speak of, and my suspicion was something big was using it as a take-off platform, it would have needed side pressure to brake it...
The PLA works in the sun.. JUST, my lamp gets very hot to a point where I can’t put my hand on it, because it gets too hot, I didn’t use any metal rods to support the arms at all, but if there is going to be a reprint, then I’ll use white PLA and support the arms next time..
That’s hog wash...
Two year on and it has stood the test of time and everything that Mother Nature could throw at her, it’s just a pity it’s lasted longer than my dear old friend @stratman, I just hope we can meet again in the Pub way up yonder.. :hugs

...all that comes a hefty price tag, is it worth it, well I wouldn’t buy it, I can get two CR-10’s for that price..
I like the CR-10, because there’s nothing it can’t do up till now, I’m sure the K1 could print a standard lamp but nowhere near as fun as the CR 10, it’s a real hands on machine..;)
...warped within a day, the previous sign took several months to react, just taught I’d mentioned it, but a quick blast from my heat gun and it flattened out again..
P.S. Had I used this stuff on my Standard Lamp it most likely would have looked very funny.. You can put your arms down now..!
...only roll, because their guilty silence proved that..
I probably used 6 different brands of filament from various companies in the making of my lamp standard (All Black) and I could see the differences between each brand, some were shiny, some matte, some were smooth and others were a bit...
...as all the others, and that’s the one thing I’ve never found wanting, time is free but wasted filament still costs money.
When I printed my lamp standard it took weeks to finish, but it still fell over, and if I had used this new printer, it would have taken only days to finish, but I still...
...how it happened.
All my filament is from Creality from Poland, @ €19 a roll and it’s been perfect ever since I’ve used it for my standard lamp, which was finished more than 12 months ago, I changed a setting in my Slicer on the nozzle size, I use point 5 nozzle on the printers and set the...
My standard lamp attends the bar barbecue each day and it hasn’t had any issues yet..
You could fry eggs on it, it’s that hot during the day.. Try giving you part a spray of black paint before installing..
Actually it was a MB2750 that I got, the MB5150’s are all out of stock.. But I got it cheap for €136…
Anyway I don’t need a great deal of filament now because I’m not planning on making another Lamp standard.. The Mark V is “Clyde built”..:)
I had similar issues when I started to print thin and tall objects too..
My CR-10’s could print up to 305 mm high and when printing my lamp standard most were 305 mm high, but when going up that high the printed image tended to shake (vibrate) and could end up in a mess if you don’t take...
...small and clip or stick your pieces together to get the size you require, I got to 3.5 metres high and 1.65 metres wide..
When I Dreamed up my lamp standard, I just pieced it together and reckoned that’s a great job and it worked, O’ boy…I was wrong, so I did it better on my 5th attempt...
The problem you have is you do not have full control of the printer, can you open the ink doors, does the print head move when powered on, or does the error prevent you from any input, the alternative is to send it to a Service Agent or buy a new print head..
Another good option is to get...
No, sorry I reckon I’ll stick with Creality for any future lamp standards, they have proven themselves to be very capable.. And I trust their quality..;)
...projects are not taught up, built or finished in a short time, it’s like the first step you take you never know where it leads you too, and don’t let the size of your printer stop you, it’s all in your head, so get dreaming..
P.S. I don’t think a standard lamp would work well in your lounge...
Yes its Flexi and polycarbonate, and Mrs The Hat doesn’t know I got this stuff yet, she’ll just have to wait and see if it print ok first.
Ah Ha, bet you on that one, this was my first miniature garden lamp post..
...most of it..
No, the repairs to the Mark 3 were done at 90% to strengthen the centre column, and to turn it into the Mark 4, the rest of the lamp construction was at the usual 60%, but it failed too, now Johnny 5 is mostly done at 30 to 40%, and is still shining bright.. 35% lighter in...
