I have some SUPER old (like 5 years) ABS sitting in the original box / sealed bag. I haven't really found any reason to try it, and am a little scared to.
... but now that I have my Ender 3 V2 dialed-in with a capricorn bowden, I may give it a try someday if I need a really strong /...
Nothing yet. I'm tempted to try a custom phone case, but may be upgrading my phone and would rather wait until I decide which one to get and then print. :)
Oh, and related, I did an update here...
An update to the gasket I printed!
Seems like it's been working fine in my GF's sodastream.
Well, I found the original gasket and decided to replace the one I printed. Here's what it looks like (now) for comparison:
As you can see, the TPU one did compress and lost it's ability to...
Wow, that's a lot of work and changes. Good job!
(I still can't believe you're the same guy that once poo-poo'd the idea of 3D printing. Now you're a pro!)
Hey guys, let's keep the discussion supportive and respectful and not directed at each other. If you have an issue, please either ignore or take the discussion to a private conversation.
Wow, excellent design / prints. Great job @The Hat
I've got a bad habit of getting really junky / cheap filament. Most of the time it works ok, but a couple of times I've had stuff that just causes more problems than I should need to be dealing with.
I recently purchased some filament which...
WOW! That's incredible! Looks PERFECT!
Ironically, just last night I was thinking "I should try to print a phone case for my phone. It would be a cool conversation piece!"
... but it's a bit daunting considering how much bigger, longer, and more complicated it would be. Especially since I'm...
I was surprised how flexible the filament is that I got and thought it would get gummed-up in the extruder gears, but it seemed surprisingly fine.
Yup, I'm still a bit nervous to print anything with overhangs, lots of retractions, etc. etc. etc.
Ah, good to know! This is one that is...
I was SO nervous about printing in TPU. My biggest concern was the bowden setup isn't ideal for flexible materials... but in a case like this, it seemed to work just fine.
I was also worried about adhesion to the bed. I've heard horror stories about it not sticking enough, or sticking too much...
Well, that was almost too easy!
(granted, the thing I printed was SUPER basic and simple) ;)
My girlfriend LOVES her "fizzy water", so she has a SodaStream to make it daily on-demand.
Today I went to put in a new CO2 cartridge and right when I inserted it, I heard gas leaking everywhere!
I...
Thank you for posting!
Yes, she was such a wonderful person and friend!
I posted on her BYC thread earlier today here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/remembering-sumi.1335205/post-25628636
Not the most high-end printer... just another Ender clone... but they have pretty good reviews on Amazon and Youtubers like them well enough.
Voxelab Aquila 3D Printer

Crazy to me that 3D printers are so cheap now... even an Ender 3 V2 clone for...
Great writeup and details!
This is good to know. I upgraded to the yellow springs, and they do seem better than OEM... then the silicone became the "cool better thing" and I was wondering if I should have done those instead. Now I'm even more confident that the yellow springs are just fine. If...
Hi Larry, welcome to our community and thanks for your question.
There's a lot of subjectivity around what is "best" (and a lot of opinions).
Maybe you can share more info on some of the things you're looking for in a 3D printer? For example:
What's your budget?
What size / volume print area...
Yup, makes sense! Fortunately one of the pros of having the Ender 3 V2 is that it's so popular that I've found a ton of videos online with people showing how they printed TPU / Flexibles on the same printer... many even using "stock" Bowden printers.
Exactly! I specifically went for a "harder"...
Yup, I bought a roll of OVERTURE TPU: https://amzn.to/3qFdQLA
Crazy, right?!?!
I'm gong into this expecting to have a lot of problems and challenges, but figured I'd see if I could get it to print on my stock Ender 3 V2. There are tons of videos where people have successfully done it, so I'm...
Wow, three VERY strong recommendations for 3DLAC! Impressive!
Curious: I've had such good success with a SUPER clean glass bed + heat that I'm not sure why / when I would need even more adhesion. Why are you guys needing more adhesion beyond what a heated bed will provide?
