    Thick bands on ET8550

That's indeed a pretty strange effect you are showing here, please provide some more details - operating system, image size, type of connection - WLAN or USB or ? What type of paper are you using ? Does the effect show up on another paper as well ? Did you change driver settings ? Since when do...

Entrapped air bubbles- Dimatix Starfire Print Heads

I would take some more drastic measure to the problem , disconnect the printheads and block the connections and put some pressure on the ink supply system from whereever the inks are coming - tanks ? - and see if and where a leak becomes apparent. And test the printhead assembly separately that way.

Entrapped air bubbles- Dimatix Starfire Print Heads

I'm not familiar with the type of printing you are doing, but there are a few questions nevertheless. Isn't there any service from the manufacturer of this type of printer ? How long does the problem exist - since the time of installation or later ? Air bubbles are a problem for any type of...

Am I defecting to Canon ?

Some of these Chinese maint. boxes didn't give contact originally - there are apparently some mech. tolerances; I tested them when they arrived and wiggled them around a bit, some need a piece of folded paper pushed into a small gap between the cart and the printer case. It's easy to claim...

Coinkdistributions states about the cleaning agent they use for printhead cleaning We use a tech grade Epson specific 2-pyrrolidone printhead cleaning solution that we custom manufacture to meet our specific needs. This may be an additive to other cleaning solutions...

Epson Artisan 835 - What are causing these microscopic line streaks?

,Apparently about all of the listed companies above claim to deliver the most UV density - that's quite interesting but does any test exist to support these claims ? I just remember claims by InkjetMall about their blackest black ever - it was just not much superior as claimed - some better...

Epson Artisan 835 - What are causing these microscopic line streaks?

It's all about colloid chemistry how pigments are formed from color molecules and how these colloid particles are kept afloat in the ink cartridges and bottles

do inks and dyes contain glycerin and glycol?

I'm wondering why glycoles suddenly get that much attention, they have been part of the ink carrier base from the beginning, you can look up the ink ingredients in the safety data sheets https://www.epson.eu/en_EU/safety-data-sheets You may not find the colorant listed which is typically a...

Am I defecting to Canon ?

Let me just add a tip to buy a waste ink box or two ahead of the time when the waste ink box reports full - no capacity left - , they are easily available via Aliexpress at affordable prices.

Epson Artisan 835 - What are causing these microscopic line streaks?

You can look up the product safety data sheets which are published by Canon and Epson , they will tell you the chemical composition to the level as it is required by law. The ink spread is less with pigment inks - the pigments spread less on paper than dye inks - the pigments are larger...

Am I defecting to Canon ?

Let me respond to your questions as I can answer them based on my experience with the T2100. I'm using the sheet feeder just for A4 paper to print some internet stuff as a partial replacement of a desktop printer. But the driver does not limit you just to use copy paper - The driver gives you...

Epson Artisan 835 - What are causing these microscopic line streaks?

Look to the yellow ink in the reservoir tank for the 835 - dye inks are translucent - pigment inks are opaque - like milk - yellow milk in this case

Epson Artisan 835 - What are causing these microscopic line streaks?

The track definition is getting much better now - what type and brand of inks are you using - a dye ink for the Artisan 835 and pigment inks for the P600 ? I would expect that you get would get a similar improvement if you would use a pigment black on the Artisan printer for a test . I don't...

Epson Artisan 835 - What are causing these microscopic line streaks?

Your last print shows the effect of the ink spread similar to what I got as well, the edge definition is not very good and you cannot really control the track width this way. I'm pretty sure you are better off with pigment inks. But printing such graphics is not the prime job of CMYK printers...

Epson Artisan 835 - What are causing these microscopic line streaks?

You may have a look to the Printfab driver which is a kind of alternate RIP and which lets you set parameters like ink density what most regular drivers don't. https://www.printfab.com/en/

Epson Artisan 835 - What are causing these microscopic line streaks?

O.K. - fine - that's a great step ahead to get away with these strange spikes, the RPM option is history, you won't find that option anymore in newer drivers - like in the L805 photo printer. You may contact farbenwerk, if they would ship to your country, or you may find a local dealer with...

Epson Artisan 835 - What are causing these microscopic line streaks?

D as a measure for density - originally translucent density from the analogue film days - is a logarithmic ratio to the base of 10 - a D of 5 would be a ratio of 100 000 in decimal terms which you never reach with film. And another issue the spectral behaviour of the ink - a good black in the...

Epson Artisan 835 - What are causing these microscopic line streaks?

I did another test with a WF-2010W, an entry level 4 color Epson printer running with pigment inks and 3.5pl droplets. The print looks the same as with the T2100 - no spikes and rather clean edges with the pigment black.
