Has anyone ever figured out exactly what a "deep clean" is?

Looking at my old iP1000, I believe the DEEP clean is a more "forceful" cleaning procedure, either by length of time it runs, or by the speed of the pump (faster rotation = more suction over a certain period of time). It says it is for "nastier" clots and such, I run it every so often "just to...

Refilling the new Canon PG-40, PG-50, CL 41 and CL 51

Yes, I was referring to it "fading" into the sponge :) What I meant to say is that there is a bit of plastic barrier rising over the the level of the foam. For ink to slosh around in one chamber and "jump" into another chamber, it has to be really sloshing around, and it has to overcome both...

Refilling the new Canon PG-40, PG-50, CL 41 and CL 51

Whoa. I've been refilling, and have not had it fade yet. So maybe I'm refilling too early? I get to put in about 3-6ml of ink though, but as I see it soak the bottom part (my cart is inclined), I stop, withdraw about 0.5ml, then move on to the next color. Since the foam gets wet, but isn't...

    Canon Print Head Alignment

Yes, I am under the impression that alignment is for variations in cart installation. Maybe you pushed it in slightly more last time, or maybe the cart sits just slightly differently than the last install --- printhead alignment takes care of this issues and assures accurate "placement" of...

Refilling the new Canon PG-40, PG-50, CL 41 and CL 51

I finally "consume" my ink and the monitor tells me that I can continue printing if I just press the resume button. A one-second press does the trick. I've refilled the cart 2 times since that and have not yet had to press the resume button again. This is cool, pity I lost the ink monitor...

    Funny ink streak

I have a Canon iP1200, and doing a print head align gives me a horizontal streak on the magenta, where there should only be vertical streaks. In other words, this is a "clot" forming. I do a nozzle check and the horizontal streak disappears! A few more alignments shows faint streaks, but it...

    Canon Print Head Alignment

If so, then we don't have to align the head after each refill, just when using a new cart... then again, I've done aligns after every refill, and sometimes notice one or two adjustments needed when compared to the previous align procedure.

I know about Deep Clean, but what "problems" are you talking about?

Refilling the new Canon PG-40, PG-50, CL 41 and CL 51

I remember reading something that the carts have serial numbers or something that the printer "remembers" and that you could trick it into thinking it has a "new" cart --- apparently this is not the case here since the cart "remembers" its own status so there's no tricking the cart. Pity we...

Refilling the new Canon PG-40, PG-50, CL 41 and CL 51

So I just wait for it to "run out" thanks! I'm not too clear on this as of yet, but as with all things, I'll probably understand it when it's time to do it for real. I've got a new print job coming, so I'll probably be an "expert" on this after about 2 days ;) Have you gotten any new carts by...

Refilling the new Canon PG-40, PG-50, CL 41 and CL 51

I just refilled my first cart, and I still get the "low ink" warning when I print. I wonder if I just let this run out or do I do something after my first refill? The various webpages state press the paper feed button, but the printer doesn't have such a button, it only has a power and a...

    Ink pl?

I'm in the Philippines, and while some stores DO stock up on 3e and 6 carts, it is rare to go to a store and be able to buy a complete set. I got fed up with getting my iP1000 to work, so I went out and bought a Canon iP1200 (the upgrade to iP1000). I would've like to get the Epson printer but...

Refilling the new Canon PG-40, PG-50, CL 41 and CL 51

Checking up on headphonesman: How's the print heads (CL-40/41) going? Can you give me an estimate on how much you have printed so far, and how often you have refilled? BTW, do you print on paper or print photos on photo paper? Thanks!

what is the best inkjet for huge volume of printing?

Scout around your area, see what printers are for sale, and which ones have a ready supply of refill/inks/compatible cartridges. You'll want to get one that allows you to "restock" your ink supply regularly. The general consensus here is that Canon and Epson printers are best and easiest to...

    Ink pl?

Whoa, thanks for the heads up on that one! I always thought that it reads as black pigment but dye for CYM. What effect does using dye on pigment-based printers have? IIRC, using dye instead of pigment is ok, but using pigment instead of dye means increased chance of clogging since pigment is...

Refilling the new Canon PG-40, PG-50, CL 41 and CL 51

Can you please clarify "light" and "heavy" usage? How many pages per day/week/month constitues what? And does printing a CYM and black once a week enough to prevent a clogged Epson head?

Are there any good printer review sites?

Thanks, will give it a read later on. I've visited Niel's pages, but often find the layout confusing. Plus everybody seems to harp on Canon printers but I've got the problem of not many local suppliers stock OEM carts or even 3rd-party carts, and pigment ink is not available at all locally.

    Ink pl?

Actually, the 4pl high dpi printer (an Epson C67) is more expensive than the 2pl lower dpi printer (a Canon iP1200). That is why it is very confusing to me. Not only is the "more expensive" printer at higher pl, it has a separate printhead (so supposedly, it should be of better quality) unlike...

what is the best inkjet for huge volume of printing?

What is your printer type and what inks do you use? I'm a flight simulator enthusiast (Falcon 4 Allied Force) as well as a Pen-and-Paper RPG game master and I print out a lot of manuals, ebooks, and odds-and-ends to handout to my players or supplement my games. I've printed out a 700-page...
