Just had a look at my Redsetter (one of the first ones) , yes it has a black rocker switch as well (never really noticed it before) , presume it activates the circuit when a cart is pressed against it.
Which invites the question is the Blue an improvement or is it Mark 1 and the Redsetter was...
Interesting, perhaps this is Mark II , the srews arn`t present on the red one , the bottom is plastic welded on , (you can convert to screws when you eventually change the battery)
Sorry Brendo , I was referring to the colour primarily , (I think) , ........."Blue" "Australian term of endearment or is it "trouble" ?.....but it does look like its identical to the Redsetter in which case the price is midrange.
Working approx $2 Aust to the 1GBP.... our cheapest in the UK...
Tin Ho I agree with all your comments. I personally have not tried the American method . My test to prove your point would be as follows:-
After successful re-fill of the reservoir (with no Orange cap as a safety stopper on the ink exit port) , I would hold the cart in an upright position for a...
Yes I am unsure as I have not personally tried the American method , I was referring to Tin Ho`s statement earlier up the thread
I`m sure he`s probably right , provided the hole is no bigger than the needle diameter. just anyone trying this method should exercise caution and monitor until sure...
If you move the injection site to the reservoir top you are back to the "normal " popular / widely used method. This method is fine but you must reseal the hole securely afterwards or the ink will flow out the sponge exit port far too quickly.before it even reaches the machine.
With the...
Don`t forget this source ,I can recommend it , http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Canon-Outlet_Canon-Printers_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ7QQftidZ2QQtZkm
Study the final prices for a couple of days before deciding, the warranty promise works should you need it.
Yes, thanks Doug , exactly as you say...................you would think they would make it a main item on their front page.....it`s well tucked away there.
As you do not say which Country you reside in these threads refer (in there somewhere ) to the USA , Canada, Uk , Australia and Germany

I understand all of Tin Ho`s explanations of the Americam Method and I am sure they do achieve the objective of refilling the resevoir chamber.
My opinion is that this method is less easy and efficient than the German Method for the following reasons:-
The main reason of the German method was...
Doug ,
Thanks very much for your report on these 2 sources of the Redsetter , several of us were wishing to find possible UK sources.
However when i just re-visited the Ink Co site and went everywhere on it I can see no mention that it ever existed ....or is it me cant see the Redsetter for the...
Here in the UK the pharmacies also refuse point blank to sell to weirdos wishing to inject ink, but a medical equipment wholesale firm sent me a box of 100 for approx 14 Aus dollars , but I am not sure they will post to Oz , and thats maybe too many for you.
There is a UK Printer supplies...
You do not mention your printer /cart type , I am presuming its a Canon using CLI8 type carts.
The minimum length of needle must be 2 inches to reach from the normal entry point , any other entry point will be difficult and may compromise cart operation.
I prefer sharp needles , blunt ones can...
The thread below may give you some ideas on overcoming your problem:-

I should point out that the homemade vacuum syringe tool shown is sized for the small sized color ports, not the larger PG5 port in the head, you would have to modify the...
Smile I have revisited this thread where we both contributed :-

and see that you must have tried everything discussed there.
The only further suggestions I could make are to use the vacuum principle only (head sat in small puddle of clean...
Yes dont use pigmented ink (black). I get by by refilling with dye black , BUT be aware that this is water soluble if I print post address labels that may experience moisture (via rain) I seal with a fixative spray. This I prefer more than trying to clear a clogged head , the spray works very...
I have purchased some sets of carts off e-bay and I use the German method with sharp medical needles.
Orange caps are the most convenient and luckily the persons i got them from on e-bay carts also both dispatched them with the orange caps. Failing not having these I would probably opt for the...
It is good to see Canon being consistent , here in the UK they also auction off their "refurbished" printers via their UK E-Bay shop outlet .
I know many on the Forum have also availed themselves of this economic way of obtaining spare machines/ ink/CDtrays/Printer Heads and chassis. I have...
Similar problem , but only with PG5`s. This seeems to be because the pin interface between the Redsetter and the PG5 is more critical, and need more precise positioning and length of time connected before steady red.
Suggestion :- a few others have reported poor battery life from the start ...
