canonfodder,
No, the sponge never gets completely white - kind of splotchy black in spots - but it is cleaner after the Windex soak.
tyamada,
Same results for me - the sponge in the ink exit port remains darker - not Black but a dark grayish color. Any possibility that your ink starvation...
I use the same purge technique (faucet adapter with 3/8" ID tubing) for the BCI-3eBK cartridges as the BCI-6s - except that the tubing fits inside the outlet hole of the BCI-3e rather than outside. After I purged the cartridges that had pigment ink I then filled the cartridge with what we in the...
Chris,
Unfortunately I don't think I can be much help seeing that you are in Germany and have a Canon printer that should be properly enabled. I happen to be one of the Canon users (ip4000) here in the US that have been able to enable the CD/DVD printing capability by mucking with the printer...
Chris,
Are you in the US? If so, I don't believe that the CD/DVD printing function is enabled due to certain patent royalty issues. Need to know your location before I can go further. If you are in Europe/Australia/Asia then the disk printing should work.

Grandad35,
Thanks for the link. I have used both the Swiss and US flavors of this paper and do/did like the Swiss version better. But not for the same reason the fellow on dpreview.com disliked it for. Since I don't use pigment inks for color photos I can't compare to his results. I don't see...
chobo2,
It does look like the link that I gave you only ships to the US - he used FedEx to send my order. It wouldn't hurt to ask him anyways. I think I used something like "empty BCI6 cartridges" when I did the search.

Check on e-bay - that is where I have bought empty cartridges from two different sellers. Check this listing:

Even though he is selling a set that...
Hobbicolors inks - he sells on e-bay. Have been using these inks for about two years in ip4000 and ip6000D. Others on this forum also use it. Also have heard MIS inks are good, but I don't have personal experience. Yes, cartridges can only be refilled so many times until they stop feeding ink...
Yes, I have been using the mentioned squeeze bottles for over a year now - based on a recommendation from fellow forum member fotofreek. I am very pleased with the results I get - no more trying to inject ink with a syringe. Never could get ink into a cartridge using a syringe without often...
I bought a new printhead for my ip4000 on E-Bay from Inkcessories. It came as a brand new, sealed in foil printhead - worked perfectly. Would have no qualms buying from them again. Over Labor Day they had a 10% off sale on all printheads on their website - wish I would have picked up a spare for...
McSpin,
Check the grommet around the intake screen on the printhead. I am assuming that the cartridge holder part of the ip4300 printhead is the same (or similar) as my ip4000 and ip6000D. The leak could be coming from there. Make sure the grommet is seated flat and doesn't have any tears or...
Trigger,
Your post and my response brought back memories of the struggle many of us went through back in late 2004 (I got involved in Dec 2004) and 2005 to get CD/DVD printing to work on the USA Canon printers. This morning I went back to the Steve's forums and reviewed some of the past posts...
Actually I can't see any reason why the time between purges wouldn't be the same. It is just a different method of getting the same ink into the cartridge. As long as the sponge doesn't get a chance to dry out, there shouldn't be a problem. I still use the top fill method using squeeze bottles...
Trigger,
Yes it is all related to a patent problem - Canon is not allowed to enable the CD print function in the USA. I was involved almost from the beginning with the CD printing thread in the Steve's Digicam inkjet printer forum. Some very smart/ingenious people were able to work out the...
Smile:
Go to this section (Display Calibration) in the AVS Forum (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=139)
Do a search for HCFR and you will find several threads on it. One of the threads has links to two .rar files that are supposedly a translation of a French document on it's...
Actually no, I don't want to use it as a large monitor - I just want the picture on my HDTV to be good. That is, good color balance, brightness, contrast and tint. There are several eyeball programs that get you started - THX that come on many Disney disks, Get Gray, DVE and others. But the...
I don't know that much about it - did a search on the AVS forums (http://www.avsforum.com/) in the Display Calibration forum using Pantone Eye-One Display 2 as the search term. There are several threads that came up. The softwares talked about were Get Grey, HCFR and Calman. I bought and have...
Grandad35,
I would be interested in picking your brain about the Pantone Eye-One Display 2. Do you have one, or something similar? I am looking for a device that I can use both with my LCD monitor and my LCD HDTV. In perusing the AV Science forum on TV calibration the Pantone Eye-One Display 2...
What are you going to do with your old ip4000? Don't trash it. Heck I would be interested in it, especially if it is only a printhead problem. I have been using my ip4000 for over two years now - been using Hobbicolors inks for over a year. Replaced the printhead about a year ago and it has been...
