Mike,
That same question has been asked several times before including by myself. When I first noticed the Made in Mexico paper there were still quite a few boxes of the Made in USA paper still in stock so I picked up two more. Since there has been no answer to this question - I wonder. Should...
Mike,
I have a set of CLI-8 CMYK cartridges that are purged (cleaned) and just waiting for that ink. I assume that it is different shades of GRAY that are controlled by the CMYK values in a photo - correct? Start a new thread when the inks become available.

Was the shipping insured? If it was, maybe you could put a claim in for damages based on his nozzle check against yours - which is certainly different.

The ones that I am referring to are genuine Canon OEM cartridges. The dye based ink cartridges are fairly easy to purge (clean out). I refill using the top hole method and remove the plastic ball from the top of the cartridge. That makes purging very easy. Not sure how easy purging is with the...
Just to be clear - you get a $3 Staples credit, not $3 cash. But it can be helpful. Used one $30 credit (10 cartridges) plus a $25 Chase credit card "Staples special certificate" to get a new Canon LiDE 200 scanner for $45 this past summer.
Also, there are some small lots (10 or so) of empty...
qwertydude,
How are you doing your profiling? I use Profile Prism and also have the LiDE 200. Just recently starting using VueScan Pro with Profile Prism and the results seem better. Also just ordered new IT8.2 targets from Wolf Faust (coloraid.de) and am awaiting their delivery. My original...
I know this is an older thread but I wanted to add my very recent experience. This past Monday evening I ordered a supply of the Clear Canon BCI-6/CLI-8 clips and BCI-3/PG-5BK clips from Compubiz Inkjet (www.inkjetsaver.com) and received them today (Thursday) - very quick delivery from WY to PA...
At the end of the above referenced video there is also a selection for another video that shows refilling a CLI-8 cartridge with the top fill method - which is what I use and am happy with. :) Although I seal the top hole with a 3/8" #8-32 nylon machine screw I get at Home Depot.

I use this pigment ink plus dye based color inks from this supplier and have very good results. The barcode does look a little ragged but the rest of the printing seems fine. Same with all the bottle labels I have for his inks. Could be the barcode software or scan he uses. Also his labels are...
Be Careful Here. The bluesetter uses three 1.5V button cells - 4.5V total. A 9V source might/will blow that sucker to heaven and back. Probably all the three battery units use 1.5V cells. Check your voltages before doing this mod.

Before you totally give up on Canon, try to find one of the better models from either Craigslist or E-Bay. Within the last year I have gotten two ip4500s and one ip4200, all brand new, from the Philadelphia Craigslist. The two ip4500s were gotten with a camera and a computer, and the owners had...
I have the Blue resetter (3 battery version) that I got from Inkjetreset.com (mapsy) last fall (2008) and it has perfectly reset many CLI-8 and PGBK-5 cartridges - no failures or non-reset cartridges so far. But even mapsy sells various versions of the resetter. My version has a little plastic...
inkpirate,
Very interesting that you are having trouble with reset cartridges in your ip4300. I have the ip4500 (later model than ip4300) and reset cartridges work fine in it. But one point - I never reset and reuse a cartridge immediately. I have several sets and rotate them - remove an empty...
Maureen,
See the post here for my results using an ultrasonic cleaner to try to unclog a printhead.
http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=11295#p11295
I had nothing to lose for trying - nothing else seemed to clear the clog. Maybe some of the newer unclogging ideas/techniques would...
I saw your post there and was also hoping that someone other than you or me (hopefully Mike Cheney) would have something to add. It must just be the way that our scanners respond to matte paper. Someone had posted on the old Yahoo Prismtalk group a long while ago about profiling matte paper...
crenedecotret,
Hi - almost missed this post being at the end of a thread that I haven't been following as much any more. But glad I found it.
I guess I have been using Profile Prism for around three years. Interesting comment about not getting good B&W prints. I have been pretty happy with my...
Cartridge resetting is not the problem - ip4000 doesn't use chipped cartridges.
If reseating the printhead doesn't fix the problem maybe the storm did do some damage. But 5 Orange flashes is a specific printhead errror message.

zlisik,
The flow of work to generate a printer profile with Profile Prism (PP) is:
Print a test pattern of color squares from a PP supplied file with all color management turned off in the printer.
Allow test pattern to dry at least a day.
Scan test pattern along with the supplied IT8 target...
