Quick question, do you know if the waste ink absorber is counted by actual ink or is it using an internal counter which assumes xx amount of ink is being sent to the pads?
If it's actual ink, I'm thinking maybe there can be a mod to vent the ink outside the printer. (like the epson r200,220 etc)
I don't know how it is for there, but in Canada the older gen Canon printers are almost a dime a dozen.
I can walk into a second hand shop and find older canons which only have no ink as the reason why they were donated.
I know there's a guy at magink@froggy.com.au who can do bulk ink.
Yes the...
I ended up pulling the trigger on an IP4600 last night for 69.99 CAD, I have refillable carts with auto reset chips coming,
the only worry I have is the stupid waste ink absorber message.
(just for giggles, I just called an authorized canon tech and said how much to clear the message and NOT...
In that case, I use http://www.rjettek.com/ and Image Specialists ink, I get a better price with Image Specialists, however I buy through my company when dealing with Image Specialists.
For those Canadians ordering, be advised you will get slammed with UPS brokerage fees so order enough to...
Hi Nambi,
I'm going to get an ip4600 and try these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Refillable-Cartridges-CANON-IP3600-IP4600-IP4700-PGI220_W0QQitemZ190343779483QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBI_Toner?hash=item2c515f949b
As I already have an amazing source for ink, i just need the cartridges.
And yes, I know the...
Would it be foolish of me to run around buying up a few IP4600's in hopes a resetter for both waste ink/ cartridges is available?
I'm wondering if when the 4800 comes out it will be a new set of chips, so
4300,4500,
4600 new chip,4700,
4800 new chips
It would be nice to see how often they...
Thanks guys, I know I get ranting, and you are right. My only gripe is this is ALL about preventing people from refilling carts, and some of the methods they are using are very underhanded.
Well Canada was a colony at one point Websnail!
IIRC the prices Canon had on printheads were about 50 CAD+, so no real savings I guess. Guess it's going to be ebay, however I will try my hand at a company that's doing refurbs and report back on how well it goes.
I also have wanted ads...
One of my Ip4500 print heads is failing, so I decide to call Canon up at the same number I used to get the trays from.
They tell me they no longer handle sales to end users with respect to parts and refer me to Global Electronics.
I then call Global Electronics and they give me a price of...
I know they are selling these in Canada with CD/DVD printing enabled. My guess *would* have been a button combination to unlock it, but seeing as the IP4600 requires a software to reset the waste ink tanks, we may be out of luck.
I can't believe this, Canon has made it that the end user can no longer reset it themselves. From what I've read, they have a special program that they use to reset the printer.
What complete and utter nonsense.
So there's the answer to your question. You need to take it to a service center...
Got the squeeze bottles. It was everything I knew it could be and more. Talk about streamlining the refill process!
Oh and a +++ for Howard Electronics, I ended up ordering something else from them and ordered the wrong thing and they gladly rma'ed it, even though it was my fault in ordering...
Thanks guys, I think the best solution is just to keep nursing these printers along, going to buy a mp500 printhead off of craigslist today!
Does anybody have any links to waste pad maintenance and purge unit maintenance? (in specifically mp500,ip4300,ip4500)
I'm not sure I'm following how the...
You need to adjust the height of your bulk tanks, they're either too low or too high. I am not sure of the correct positioning as it's been awhile since I've used this.
While I agree with you, for me I use my printers enough to just automatically refill once a week. If there was value it would be from having the
cartridge not get rejected from the printer. "Unrecognized ink tanks" more often than not is resolved with a reset chip.
That would be the only reason...
Hi,
Long time refiller of ip4300/ip4500 machines.
To make a long story short, when I finally got my hands on a redsetter, I was able to prove that when the printer gave me an unrecognized ink tank error message, simply resetting the tank with the redsetter would clear that error message...
