I got the "you need to be a service tech" from Canon Canada. I don't know if I had just approached them differently, maybe they would have sent it. However, I just got 2 refurbed print heads for 33 bucks each so Canon can stuff it.
This is fantastic news!
I encourage everyone to grab these while they are still up.
This has basically increased the worth of the Ip4600 and ip4700.
Time to test and stock up on ip4600/ip4700!
Don't scrap it!
There's a fix for this, I can't remember where I saw it, but it's not a hard one. Take the chasis off to see what you can see. Sorry I couldn't be more specific, but I am positive i ran across a solution for this exact problem in my travels.
I've been trying to ignore the fact that my printers probably need to have these cleaned out. I've opened these printers up before, but not sure how to remove the printer from the bottom chassis. Anybody have experience with these models?
If nobody has pics I will try to document the process...
Just answering my own query, I was able to get a price of .02 cents a gasket directly from China. Still investigating.
Thanks for your replies guys!
I'm going to read up on the vacuum grease, I would be just a bit nervous with that stuff around my print heads which cost astronomical amounts to...
Has anybody got a source on these? I just spent all night trying to fix my Ip4300 that stopped printing cyan. Just as I'm about to add it to the pile of "needs new printhead" I thought I'd try a gasket that came with my ip4600 refillable carts.
To my sickness and horror (How many printheads...
Sorry, was unclear, these ship WITH the gaskets, overall they aren't much of a problem I guess, I just thought how hard can it be to copy a canon cart lol.
Oh, you also need to take out the air hole plugs (I don't know why they are there) when printing.
I'm guessing they need to be for storage...
Just a followup on this order, seems this set of cartridges needs a rubber gasket slipped round the intake port of the print head.
I'm disappointed to say the least. I'm reminded of the nightmare that went along with CIS for the Ip4300. The smarter CIS companies realized that the gasket was...
You've made a good point, on very rare occasions are my sponges dry enough to absorb ink. When I refill there's usually a smidge of ink left in the reservoir, and this is done to make sure my print heads never get overheated.
*IF* I have to let a cartridge absorb ink, then yes, i may have to...
I use the German method with squeeze bottles, just insert the needle BEFORE tipping everything upside down/sideways.
Works fun and I don't have unwanted ink coming out of the needles. The squeeze bottles i have are firm enough that you do have to apply a bit of pressure to get things going.
As tempted as I am to go and film myself refilling a cartridge, I'm not. I can't understand what's so hard to believe?
Takes me 2 seconds to insert needle, 8 seconds to send ink into cartridge. Not hard to do, if the needle is slid home all the way to the prism and backed off just a hair to...
Takes me 10 seconds to fill a cartridge using the German method. Are you sure you're inserting the needle correctly? If you don't insert it all the way to the prism you will have the problems you describe.
I've tried the "traditional way" and tried the German method. At first, it just didn't...
Just wanted to clarify, the cartridge your printer uses is Cli-8 and the replacement you got is cli-8?
You're getting cartridge not recognized and still able to print?
If it's printing, leave it alone, when it's empty try resetting. No point messing up what is currently working!
