Thanks for the advise guys. So now I changed the tissue in the jar with the Dreft/Fairy fluid with demi water. If I keep the lid open the solution will eventually evaporate. So this situation can only last for some weeks.
Pharmacist's recipe must be the best, but the industrial ingredients are...

How do you keep the spare print head in good condition? I have a spare head and keep it in a jar. The head rests on a tissue soaked with diluted alcohol. Here is a photo:
As you can see the tissue drains the ink out of the nozzles.
But is it safe? The alcohol might damage...
Received the gear box and installed it. The iP90 is now in working order.
Here is the link to order the gear box. It's not expensive.

Thanks Peter, for the useful info. I tried to exchange a part of paper feed gear box from an older printer to the iP90. When I tried to remove it from the older printer I broke the wheel!
So now I've got two broken printers. :(
Latex gloves on offer at Lidl. In my country the offer starts at week 6. Check your local Lidl offers for the week number in your region. It can be found under "W5 cleaning products"
I try to awake a Canon iP90v and I found this service book. So I share the link. BTW it's on a slow site.

The same ink is in T008 and T009. But the T008 contains less ink, 46 ml instead of 66 ml in the T009. I think you should buy the OEM cartridges on eBay, the Epson store is way too expensive.
If you find a nice offer of T008 carts, they will fit. I noticed it with a Lyson cart.
I owned a 1290s until 2012 and it was a good printer. I sold it because I wanted to 'upgrade' to pigment inks, but the pigment inks appeared not to be better after all.
I runned it with all kinds of inks, also Lyson Quad Black. The printer was not clog proof and using OEM cart bought at...
Roy is right, there is no 'one size fits all' for paper. Here are the papers I've got at the moment:
Sihl 300 gsm glossy photo paper
Epson premium glossy photo paper
Ilford Galerie smooth gloss photo paper
DR 160 gsm matte waterproof photo paper
Fuji 235 gsm premium plus glossy photo paper A3...
Flush the cartridges? I've never done that. At first warning I fill the Canon cartridge 526 with new ink, then the sponge won't get dried out. I use dye ink by Sun Chemical which mixes very well with the OEM ink remains in the cart.
But the PGBK is another story. Until now I've filled with OEM...
Thanks for the reaction, Costadinos.
The printer is mainly meant for documents. Occasionally I will print an A3 photo or a photo with pigment ink with the Brother. Normally I use the Canon for (dye) A4 photos.
I'm glad to hear that the Brother handles pigment ink. Also, The possibility of using...
My Epson printer has passed away so it's time to look for a new office printer.
I am thinking of a Brother printer, because Brother make printers with an A3 scanner on board. And it's a lot of work to scan a newspaper article with an A4 scanner.
Brother is also the brand that still sells...
I'm not Wilko, but here's how I do it:
I use the opaque carts that came with the printer. The empty carts are weighted to determine the amount of ink needed. I fill a syringe with that amount of ink and fit a long blunt needle on it. Usually not a drop gets spilled! Resetting is done with a...
Those prints look nice!
Actually I did a similar experiment with the OCP K3 ink, but less refined: I filled both the magenta and cyan tanks with Light black. It took a while before I found out that it's absolutely necessary to set the printer to 'matte', but then the prints were great.:celebrate...
I'm glad to see everyone happy about these offers.
I've got an expensive roll trimmer from a photo store but I still use the Lidl Guillotine more often!
Very good choice, Pharmacist. I too think that dye ink looks better on glossy photo paper. I only use pigment ink for photos that are exposed on a wall.:thumbsup
Hi Mowerman. The Epson has a preview box to tick just like Canon has. I showed it with an arrow in the main menu. It can also be found in the advanced menu.
Cartridges without chips! Yes, the good old days. But Canon still allows the user to switch off the chip, an advantage over Epson.
I can only hope my Canon will last for that long, my Epson gave up the battle after 4 years of non intensive use.:(
I keep track of these offers. The products are each year on offer in the same week:
Lidl paper (Sihl): week 4
Aldi paper (sihl): week 32
Lidl cartidges: week 8 and 35
May differ +/- 4 weeks per region.
