Haven't had a problem so far and must have reset over 100 carts. Like you I bought the redsetter when it first came out for over 30. Only problem I've had has been a couple of carts which reset ok but my printer wouldn't recognise them. Put this down to faulty chips rather than the resetter though.

The only disadvantages with these later printers is that their cartridges hold a smaller amount of ink and you will need to buy a new resetter for the chips. You will also need to purchase some more empty cartridges as your cl-8 ones will not fit. As suggested go for a good used IP4300 or IP4500
