No - ammonia is not owtlawed here. You can make your own cleaner by diluting ammonia , or you could use Windolene - the clear liquid, not the pink stuff.
I believe Mr Muscle has a similar windowcleaner in its range.
If you are not desperate to get a 4500 immediately, look out for one here.

I got an MP600 from this source. It was in perfect condition and at a good price.
It might be that with all those modern cleaners on the supermarket shelves no-one wants the humble ammonia as a cleaner any more so it is not worth supermarkets stocking it.
But I found a supply in bottles in a local hardware store, and in sprayers in a 'Poundstretcher' type store .
I have an MP600 which is very similar to the 610, and that certainly doesn't guzzle coloured ink - or black ink for that matter. I found it most economical.
If you are printing mainly in black and white and you select plain paper you will only use the large PGI-5BK cart. Your only loss of CLI-5...
I owned a Canon IP4000 and have caught a cold by using two makes of ink at different times. The first was a well known make of cart and the second was a UK refill kit using inks of unknown origin.
Both caused clogged magenta nozzles that I could not completely clear and resulted in buying new...
pharmacist,
It would have been better if you had shown each scene with the three inks, all together on the screen. It's difficult to make a comparison when you need to scroll the screen up and own.
Servo,
When you say '...that company..' are you referring to ink.co.uk?
'The design is much larger - they run the full hieght'. The chip is at an angle. Could you explain why they won't work on OEM? I cannot visualise it.
I saw carts with chips being sold by ink.co.uk at about 2.50 each. I thought that would be worth it if only to get hold of the chips. But I wanted to be sure that the chips could be reset with the ReDsetter they were sellin, so sent them an email. Here is the reply I received.
So it looks like...
I wonder whether it is not so much a case of the chip being damaged by static, but rather a case if the chip being damaged while being reset.
I bought an IP600 and as I had heard that a resetter was coming, I went for a second set of new carts rather than risk losing the guarantee by refilling...
Inkmon has a limitation when used with multipurpose printers like an MP600. That is because Inkmon is blind to usage when copying - it does not print through your PC.
If you top up before the cartridge is empty you should reset, otherwise the counter in the chip is not a true record and you would get an 'Empty' warning when there was still ink in the tank.
