    Ive been refilling carts for my Canon iP4000 for about 18 months now. I use two for each colour and alternate between them. Recently I had trouble with the magenta head clogging. Did the usual cleaning/soaking but found I could not completely clear the clogs. Bought a new head and everything...

    Does your pigment black ink run on plain paper when it gets wet?

    I use refill ink from B&S Print Ltd of Bolton. I've just tried a printout and the smear is negligible.

    If information is published in this forum it must be considered to be in the public domain. In the circumstances, I doubt that the Patents Office would allow anyone to take out a patent based on that information.

    I've just seen an advert for the Ricoh GX3000 gel printer. It appears to use a new technique and this is the first time I have seen something like that advertised. No price given for the carts, or how many pages they will print. Can anyone describe the pros and cons? How about refills.

    I'm sure you are right. Something has to be original to get a patent. It's probably just bluff like the wolf baring its teeth. Maxwell the newspaper man got away with his criminal activities for years because people yielded to his threats of legal action.

    That's what I am suggesting. Provided the IR is 'live', then it would be sure to work. If I knew what the connections were to the sensor in the IR assembly, I could provide a simple circuit.
