How large of a thread can the original refill hole support

A small hole is easier to seal if you do not use screws. Even if you use screws start with a small one. If the thread is worn out you can always rethread it one size larger next. You may be right. Proably shouldn't overlooked the size issue. Maybe the thread won't wear out easily. My hobbicolors...

    Pixma 3000

I once owned an ip3000 for about a week. I returned it to the store after I found a problem in doing a printhead alignment. My impression about ip3000 is it is really a low quality built printer. It was made in Malaysia. The chassis looked cheap and not very precision made. Its appearance is far...

    Green tint with hobbicolors

If you get a greenish tint you are not getting enough magenta, or you are getting too much yellow and cyan. The chance yellow and cyan to output too much at the same time is low. It must be the magenta that is lacking. But you have swapped magenta and it made no difference. It really doesn't...

    Green tint with hobbicolors

Well, you swapped magenta and it made no difference. Did you try to swap cyan and yellow? You can find out quickly which one is causing the difference. Your MIS print looks too blue. The black on the HC print looks washed out., both look problematic to me. I don't see a green tint on the HC...

ink level indicator (reset?) canon i965

Steph, buy a virgin cartridge. Use it (as an empty cart) to reset the printer's ink level status. If this doesn't work still your printer needs service. If it is still under warranty get a replacement from Canon. Because it's a new and empty cart the prism at the bottom has no reason to not...

    Clogged Canon print head

Fish Cris, congrats for the new printer. The price is great. I do have some knowledge about ip6000D because I told my neighbor when Fry's Electronics had it on sale refurb'ed model back around Christmas time. My neighbor took two home. He left one at home and took the other to work place. I had...

Best Epson Photo printers that Don't USE PIGMENT ink?

I have never seen any inkjet printer with CMYK ink only using dye based black ink. May be there are but I have not seen one. If you want all dye based ink you have to get one with CMYKcm as you said. Well, you can fill your BCI-3ebk cartridge with dye based ink. You will print text like using...

    Green tint with hobbicolors

Jonalava, I almost never use Pro Photopaper setup for my Kirkland photopaper. I have heard that it is not the one to use for non Canon photo paper. In fact I have found other settings produce better prints for Kirkland. If the printer does not let you to set to FINE then you probably should not...

Absolutely. Just select paper size to custom. Set the size to your envelop or post card. Then print it.

What is the difference in Compatible and Remanufactured Cartridges

There was a company from Taiwan that developed a technology to make HP compatible ink cartridges with compatible printheads on them. The company never made it to the US market. HP sued them in US court and successfully banned them from importing into the US market. If I remember correctly this...

    Green tint with hobbicolors

It was probably my wife's subjective opinion. The skin tone looked too yellow to me. It's really funny we completely disagree with each other.

    Clogged Canon print head

Try to find an ip6000D. It is probably easier to find one instead of an i960. From what I have seen it is only slightly slower than i960 but it prints really beautiful photos like i960. Or if you still can find an ip8500. It is absolutely the best photo printer Canon offers. I believe ip8500 is...

    Green tint with hobbicolors

What photo paper did you print on? What medium type did you select to print? Apparently MIS and HC inks are different. One may be greener than the other on the particular paper with the particular setup. I printed a few photos today and some of the photos are portraits. If there is a green tint...

which inkjet printer can do this...please help!

Snowboarder's particular paper is 5 mm thick. If it is not coated with the inkjet paper coating I will say it's not worth the effort to find a special printer that can do it. Pigment based ink is a another story though. It may be fine to print on any surface if the ink is pigment based.

which inkjet printer can do this...please help!

You also need to consider if your thick paper is suitable for inkjet printing. Paper for inkjet printer need to have the special coating in order to produce the desired colors. If your thick paper is just like plain paper don't expect it to produce vivid colors from photos. You may need to print...

What is normally expected when replacing ink tanks.

Music Image: Your 3ebk cartridge is leaking. Or it is overfilled which is causing a leak. The ink is probably not pigment ink. It's obvious that if it is pigment ink it will not smear like that. The banding reminds me when I overfilled my BCI-6 cartridges without following the instruction. Your...

Driving Print Heads under software control

You are talking about low level programming of the printer. I am afraid it is impossible unless Canon discloses details of the harware. The printer harware is controlled by the printer firmware. The firmware is the software talking to the hardware in bits. The printer driver talks to the printer...

$100 Rebate from Canon for MP780

I was at Fry's yesterday and saw the price tag for MP780 at $99.99. They gave $50 instant off then you get $100 rebate from Canon. They have a ton of it. Well, it's strange enough. I still saw people buying HP and Epson at the same time. As I always suspected. Canon does a very poor marketing...

preventive care for ink jet printers ??

Storing all the carts together with the print head in a sealed bag including a damp paper tissue is an excellent idea. As long as the bag is air tight and is able to keep the moisture from escaping the bag it should work. Some older Canon print head allows cartridges remain plugged but some do...

Bands most noticeable at bottom of page on Canon ip8500

Correzpond: thanks for explaining what 3 pass is. Well, some banding may not be as visible as one pass unless the printer can precisely slide through under the print head in each pass. Why not do the nozzle test just one pass using a glossy photo paper? The colors although still very light but...
