Dye vs pigment for high gloss photo printing

Just my experience maybe but I'm in a small computer room where my wife and I do all our printing ( and hobby stuff) and the wall I'm facing is covered with all sorts of pictures 99% of which were printed over the last 10 years with all kinds of printers including Epsons, Canons, and HP's. Some...

R2400 / ink occasionally leaks puddles onto prints

Update on the last comment. The dampers still look good the lowest being the LM and it is over half full! As most of you know the lite colors, ( LM and LC) almost always are used up at about a 2 to 1 ratio. Sometimes I just top off these two colors and print some more! Outoftheinkwell)

R2400 / ink occasionally leaks puddles onto prints

Yes, I occasionally see this on my Epson 1400. I usually let it go as it only does it once, or I print with cheap more porous paper to act as a blotter, or I power the printer off and on so the rubber wiper is brought into play. Either way it isn't a major problem. Recently my wife kept printing...

Epson Stylus 1400 vs. Artisan 1430 for CIS

Just an after thought but don't be afraid to try a printer that has been refurbished by the manufacturer. I have my 1400 that I bought three years ago and it's still doing a good job. I was told that sometimes the refurbished printers are as good as or even better because they come into the...

Epson Artisan 835 using mainly LM, LC carts in plain paper color print

Your very welcome Alaa and I'm assuming your finished color photographs are very good. Those printers with the "Claria" type dye based inks seem to do a good job for us consistently. I have used printers that use pigment inks and I have had excellent result with those as well but I personally...

Epson Artisan 835 using mainly LM, LC carts in plain paper color print

I find that LC and LM are always the most used in both my Epson 1400 and Artisan 725 printers. I do believe this is normal for these printers. I usually only refill the other colors every other time around.

Epson Stylus 1400 vs. Artisan 1430 for CIS

I've had a 1400 for about three years and it's still printing great full color photographs. We prints almost everyday so no head clogs nor do we need to run the cleaning tool. I don't know about the 1430 but I'm guessing that it's just an updated version of the 1400 and I think I'd stay away...

    Cartridge radiographs

I'm not familiar with that cartridge type but as I see the problem so well pictured a thought popped into my mind and dumb as it might be I'm going to share it, ( I'm shameless) Hee hee! Since the ink is stuck in the sponge so to speak, how about a simple centrifuge? It wouldn't have to be...

    Recommended Ink for CISS

So far my cost at Costco for 150 count Kirkland Photo glossy inkjet paper has been just under $19.00 a box. I have also seen some very good products at higher prices, but not bad, from Red River Papers. I imagine the shipping to another country will add to the costs, and I wonder if free...

    Problems with PM and PC

I see, OK, heres another idea. Try going to a site that has tutorials. There are several good ones but the only one I personally have used that seems to be unusually helpful in my limited experience has been InkJetCarts and the person that runs it is Ross Hardie. I'm not saying he is the only...

    Questions about Epson Picturemate

Want good photo prints ? / Try an Epson Artisan 725 ( Epson sells them for $99.99 on occasion ( then goes back to $199.99, "timing is everything"). Then get a good damper/chip set, ( I paid $39.00 for mine), inks can set you back $5.50 a bottle x 6 for a total out lay ( Not including shipping...

    Problems with PM and PC

Could print speed be a possible reason for the problem? I usually print at a slow head speed that is for Photo ( best) Or just ( Photo) . If I try to print photographs at standard speed I also can see white lines but never at the slower head speeds.

    Recommended Ink for CISS

Ink is only one half of the equation, the paper is just as important. I've had my best results with dye based inks (Claria type) in an Artisan or some Stylus printers. I use Kirkland professional glossy photo paper and with that combination I've had no fading so far over the last 6 years nor is...

    Easy unclogging of epson printhead.

When all else fails, secure 12 OZ TriNitroToluline, and tamp directly into the printer head. (Just Kidding) , but, there have been times when I thought of trying TNT !

need help for inks (epson stulys photo px820fwd)

You stated your looking for cheap ink and I understand the need to save money. I will say that compared to OEM ink even the best comparable substitutes for OEM inks are a great deal cheaper then those 20 dollar cartridges that give you maybe 10 mils of usable ink on a good day! But do yourself a...

need help for inks (epson stulys photo px820fwd)

Wouldn't that use "Claria" TYPE dye based inks? My Artisan 725 does and that is why I use it. I have found that third party inks from a good source like the sources listed in this forum work well for me and even though I'm just a hobbiest I am fussy about the full color prints I produce since we...

    Refillable Cartridges - please advice

I noticed you are in Malta and I just watched an old film about the WW2 siege of Malta starring Alec Guinness who was also Obi One in Star Wars. The people went through a great deal and saved a lot of lives in that time period. Not exactly related to Printing of course but I wonder if we'd be in...

    Refillable Cartridges - please advice

I have to say that the Canon folks in here are the experts in all things Canon. I can only relate to Epsons and I am very happy with my Epson Artisan all in one. My model has it all except for the fax capability but other Artisan models include that also! It was not something I needed so I opted...
