The US part numbers for Brother DCP-115c are LC41 series. Not sure what type of ink goes to each color but generally dye based inks are more often used in black cartridges and pigment inks in color cartridges. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I used to have Epson Stylus C88 and have been using it for 3 years or so and have never had problems with the yellow. The majority of my prints were black only though.
I had the same problem, solved it the same way, cleaned the rollers. That was just a temporary solution, since I had to clean them more often after and more often each cleaning.
I'm not very sure if there is a i conflicts between orignal ink and compatible ink.
I'd like to know if there could be any if they are mixed up, please guys, can you post a link regarding that matter?
I had a similar problem and since most warranty services replace your printer instead of fixing it - they said it'd cost less and there are hardly ever spare parts, I think you are out of luck.
Still you can have a try with your warranty service.

Depends on what is the scan quality you need! I personally use a stand alone scanner and printer, so I can replace / repair only the one, when is needed!
