To Dan,
When I was using the dye based BCI-3ebk, I was printing various text based forms. I didn't particulatly
note if it was not quite as black as the Canon type pigmented ink. But any black contrasts quite well with white paper--which was all that counted at the time. But I still have one...
To Music Image,
I also have a ip4000. Which has proved to be equally adept at using OEM cartridges,
third part prefilled cartridges, and refilled cartridges. I have never experienced nozzle checks like yours.
While the Canon OEM BCI-3ebk does use a pigemented ink, the prefilled cartridges I...
Have you considered the hobbicolor virgin cartridges?--$1.65 for an empty BCI-6 blank and $2.50 for an empty BCI-3ebk blanks. That an you get a premade ink inlet hole with a screw seal. I do not believe you necessarily have to buy a refill kit or use hobbicolor ink.
To kids,
The issue I had with the ink-tec video on the Canon BCI-6 refilling had nothing to do with speed---it had to do with content---which I downloaded in entirity and then played rather than viewing it as streaming content real time---and I assume those on the printservices website come...
There are numerous threads on printhead cleaning on this forum. But you are in troubleshooting mode now.
Do a noozle check first---that tells you what is printing and what is not---If the BCI-3ebk is not showing you need to determine if its your cartridge or the printhead. Most likely spot on...
To add to what fish said.
Your first decision if you want an unchipped Canon is decide if you wany a full blown
photoprinter----or something more general purpose.
First understand that the better refillable non-chipped Canons take the BCI-3&6 line of cartridges. While the chipped Canons take...
To Dario,
Not sayimg I am definitely right, but what you see as black may be some mix of cyan, magenta, and yellow.
-If that is the case, maybe you do need to look at the BCI-3ebk black cartridge and the parts of the printhead responsible for printing the large black text cartridge.
I have been to the printsevices web site. While the printservices site does not seem to have a refill video on canon BCI-6 cartridges, I noted the videos seemed to come from ink-tec. So I went to the ink-tec web site and found their video on the Canon bci-6 cartridges. I was not impressed.
For...
To Stevedrink,
I am not sure what you mean by "blow the vent". Do you mean the air inlet above the sponge section of the cartridge?-----if you are having to actually force air in---it means your cartridge--in the process of feeding ink---is fighting a vacume. That is the purpose of removing the...
To mexyp,
If on30trainman is correct and the printer is under warranty--- I would recommend you insist on it being repaired or replaced with another ip3000--because the ip3000 is unchipped and is your ticket to economical printing---if Canon offers to replace it with a chipped Canon---I for...
To John Cox,
You can try the refilled PM cartridge, but if does not work a Canon OEM PM cartridge
not showing on a nozzle check would rule out the PM cartridge and isolate the problem to somewhere on the printhead.
To ultra,
Do a nozzle check--if its OK your printhead is OK. And I have to respectively disagree with the assertion that dye based ink in a BCI-3ebk will damage it printhead just because its dye based instead of pigment based like Canon OEM. Many third party prefilled cartridge vendors do...
To ultraviolet353+ welcome to this forum,
In general you should purchase a refill kit with ink blended for your specific printer. I do not believe that applies to a costco kit as its likely to be blended as a generic for all printers. Not only are color shifts likely, you also risk printer...
Don't give up on a MP780 that fast---they are on Sale at FRy's electronics for $150 after rebates again this week. But I still got one question--instead of having a printer at the job site--why not just have a digital camera there and use the PC at the job site to send the digital file to a...
To Music Image,
Most of us don't live next door or even within easy driving distance of a quality ink supplier. So mail order is the only game in town. If you want to be 100% sure no one can rip you off--don't buy from anyone.
Otherwise its a matter of choosing a supplier--paying your...
Just use something like electrical tape---make sure its wide enough to spans both sides if the ink outlet hole. And tightly taped to the cartridge sides so its under slight tension. You are just trying to keep air exposure from drying the ink out at the center of the ink outlet hole.
But when...
It smy understanding that once the chip on the cartridge has decided its empty, the printer will then warn you its empty----and then there is a convolutd process of navigating quite a number of nag screen that warn of dire danger and warranty voiding to go through before the printer will finally...
To Acoustics4me,
Who wonders why people on this forum are so nice. Its because we are having so much fun saving money.
And your ip4000 get you a good reason to join the party. These forums are for sharing techniques and knowledge. Its not an adversarial relationship where the requirement for a...
Mike,
There seems to be three highly respected inks---very very close to Canon OEM color balance.-----somewhat favored here. Other good inks exist but those three are popular choices.
Those inks are formulalabs, MIS, and hobbicolors.
In another post I gave you a url for formulalabs, MIS is...
