I can't vouch for the ink's ability to resist fading, I'm afraid @Flying Scotsman. I tend to keep these cartridges as emergency supplies for convenience, and then only use the cartridges for printing documents.
I am following this topic with interest. Sooner or later I will be confronting the same issues with my Canon printers, but of course will wait until I am confronted with the warning before attempting anything with service tools. I was interested in your comment above @PeterBJ.
I recently had...
@The Hat, my sincere apologies. My intentions were really not to promote, as you probably realise. Just so I am clear, it is okay to mention a product that I have used (as above), but not post links? Is that correct? By the way, what is the PM system?
Edit: PM sent...
Another option is ColourDirect if you want to stick with prefilled cartridges. I have used them in the past, and their cartridges have never given me any problems. Don't expect colour accuracy to be quite as good as PC or Octoink, but it's not bad. ColourDirect can be found on Amazon and...
Gallery is always a good choice. I have used 7dayshop.com paper in the past, usually buying when it is on promotion. It compares very favourably with the known brands. Currently I do most of my photographic prints on United Office paper, which is remarkably good for its low cost. Lidl were...
Try Octoinks. I buy direct from them, but I believe they can be found on Ebay too. The ink is specially formulated for your printer, so don't expect it to be the cheapest on the market. But the ink's quality is worth every penny.
It always seems somewhat underhanded in the way manufacturers impose these restrictions and limitations on warranty issues in terms of product life expectancy. Invariably, the consumer rarely knows the terms until after money has changed hands and the purchase has been made, and probably in...
@Artur5 I'd be inclined to go for your option 4, but possibly have a backup plan if and when your ip3000 finally fails. I agree that the ip3000 belongs to a well built generation of printers. I owned the ip4000 and ip5000 back in the day, and they both served me well. It was the printhead...
The Canon MX922 is certainly an option for you. It is a big beast, I warn you - I own the MX925. The difference in model number, I think, is that the numbering system is slightly different in the UK. The MX925 takes 550/551 cartridges, so possibly a difference here too.
The MX925 has the...
Best not to give the printer manufacturers ideas like that! ;)
I like to do a nozzle check print at least once a week. It doesn't take more than a few seconds. Inspecting the print allows you to identify and swiftly address any issues that may arise before they become bigger problems if...
Works for me! Thank you.
Following on from what you were discussing in the other thread, I thought I'd run a little comparison test on the different Canon paper settings using a single A4 sheet of inexpensive photo paper and a purge test pattern as the image. It's interesting to see the...
So what are your recommended driver settings to produce the best results with this paper, or have you got this paper profiled?
This paper is certainly a steal at the price!
Well, I've just gone out and bought me four packs. Should keep me in printing euphoria for a while. Thanks for the heads up! I had been using some paper under the name of Unicorn, which I believe came from either Lidl or Aldi - I can't remember. That was okay, but this is even better!
I am with you on this. Out with the old and in with the new - and that's everything (except the printer of course). I'll flush the print-head too, just as a precaution. It's funny you should mention Octoink's system - in fact I've already gone ahead and ordered this for all the inks.
Just to...
Advice duly noted. It is perhaps better to take the prudent approach and dispense with the IS inks altogether. I've had a fair run with them, especially considering the maximum advised storage duration of two years!
I do very much agree with your viewpoint about taking every precautionary...
I have to admit, neither of the scans I posted previously looked very good, you're right. Thank you for providing those test images. I've now had a chance to run the comparison test between IS inks and Canon. I've carefully followed your instructions and printed on glossy paper, keeping...
Oh yes, this is a great article, and very helpful. I've downloaded the colour matrix consisting of multiple pictures of the young girl, and I've used it to achieve noticeable improvement.
I tend to make the required changes in half steps (reducing the error by half each time). So if it looks...
