Grandad,
I reproduced your results. With "Discard the embeded profile" there is more magenta appearance on the asian woman when soft proofing compared to the other four soft proofs.
As an exercize, I measured the following color values in the "2-B" chart location for:
6. 96/64/60 -...
The Getty Images I have printed are summarized in www.jv70.cjb.net by clicking on getty_images_prints.htm
The comparisons only reflect my judgment and are very subjective. I believe that all the prints, except the last two, would be acceptable to most people if shown without side by side...
Grandad and others,
From your experience please compare Formulab ink with Old Ink Grabber ink.
The reason I am asking is because frank trotti and RStrain from dpreview.com/forums are recommending
www.private.abacus24-7.com BCI-6 compatible carts ($1.85 each). Abacus (sj) e-mail reply was...
Weight of the Kirkland Photo Paper has been reduced from 69 lb to 68 lb. Someone on the dpreview.com/forums noticed it.
The Costco Kirkland store has both the 69 lb and 68 lb versions. I exchanged my 68 lb for the 69 lb.

fotofreek,
Good find!! I liked the product, detailed description and price. With shipping my ink cost would be ($29.95 + $4.90 ) / 6 refils x (55) 8.5 x 11 photos per PM cart = 10.6 cents per page. I will consider buying this refill kit once my present cart supplies are used up.
I was...
I have printed 94 photos and 75 plain sheets all 8.5 x11 with BulkInkJetCarts from Chinese manufacturer #2. These carts are like OEM carts in appearance and weight of disassembled details. Printed colors are "good plus" with grandad's printer profile.
I had not fully appreciated the importance...
On a iP8500 printer (same inks as i9900) my approximate ink usage was 4 carts of PM ink to 4PC, 3Y, 2M, 2C, 2M, 2R, 1G with either OME carts or BulkInkJetCarts in printing 8.5 x 11 photos of people and scenery and some plain paper prints.
Ink first gets used from the sponge chamber without much...
I ordered more carts from www.bulkinkjetcarts.com and now have enough supplies to print 400 photos 8.5 x 11.
Scott from BIJC now stocks carts only from Chinese manufacturer #2. He confirmed that the carts were from
www.inklabcartridge.com but the manufacturer is Multi Union...
The best quality photos would be otained with the 8 color Canon printers (iP8500 and i9900) because grandad has published 14 high quality custom printer profiles for various inks and papers for these printers.

I have used the above.. OldIG_3-2-05.icc profile by Grandad35 on:
Canon iP8500 printer with Kirkland paper and BCI-6R, G, PM, PC, Y, M, BK, C compatible carts from
www.bulkinkjetcarts.com chinese manufacturer #2 (www.inklabcartridge.com).
The above printer profile Completely corrected the...
The green cast in black and brown colors was completely corrected using the Profile for Old InkGrabber Ink/Kirkland Glossy Photo paper/Canon i9900 by Grandad35 from the Printing Photos and Photo Software section. Thank you Grandad.
All colors on test prints look as good as with OEM ink.
I have...
Grandad,
Thank you. I will try your 5 profiles as soon as I get my monitor profiled. If that does not work maybee you could do a profile of BIJC carts from Chinese manufactured #2 (www.inklabcartridge.com) with Kirkland paper. These carts look like a close copy of OEM carts. I have printed 44...
Grandad,
www.colorvision.com does list iP8500 as supported on PrintFIX. There is not much description of the PrintFIX scanner and the Canon LiDE 80 scanner appears fairly good from what I read so far, so maybee it should be Profile Prism unless I could mail you a target profiling chart printed...
I am considering Profile Prism for profiling my iP8500 printer using BulkInkJetCarts with Kirkland paper.
In an e-mail from mchaney@ddisoftware scanner recommendations were:
Canon LiDE 80 as the most cost effective scanner with top notch quality.
The lowest price I found was $132 including...
In testing BCI-6 compatible BulkInkJetCarts from Chinese Manufacturer #2, I have printed 35 photos and 31 plain sheets 8.5 x 11. The carts come in white boxes and look like OEM carts. There have been no problems with the carts.
I am getting a green cast in black and brown colors that I have...
After a number of tries,I have good scans of the prints described in Post #13.
I have to thank grandad for directing me to forums.dpreview.com (see "another formulab ink test..,Post #5) where the suggestion was to have the prints in sunlight with the camera in the shade when scanning. Sunlight...
HTH,
Thank you for your post. I appreciate your comments and experience. I have read some of your references,
plan to read the rest, and will report back before I purchase anything. In luminous-landscape, I read about using 5000K fluorecent lights to view monitor colors. I have incorporated...
Grandad,
Thank you for your post.
Terms Soft Proof and Custom Profiles imply that you have experience with Color Management.
I have specified Adobe RGB(1998) in my camera and Photoshop CS. I am useing a 22" Mitsubishi CRT monitor calibrated with Adobe Gamma and nothing else in color...
