Using custom ICC profile (Canon MX870)

I've recently made a profile for CANON MX870 using plain paper. For a reason I cannot quite understand, standard profile is not the best thing Canon has made to date. While copy function work very well, printing from PC does not. With a quick profile using Profile Prism I get much better color...

    Surprising fade test results

That sounds quite expensive!! :Dene I think nobody expects to have 100y prints. By then, I just don't remember original scene, I just just cannot see so well or, most likely, I won't see at all. Nevertheless, if we use good paper or good inks or both, perhaps we'll have nice prints 5 years from...

    Instant clog refilling... (Canon MX870)

Well, I'm new to this but from my reading I would suspect the new cartridge doesn't have air vent open. Printer head has a vacuum in yellow channel so no ink output. Experts, is that ok, or may I should read a little more before reply to others :D ? ps - I'll be refilling my OEM cartridges soon...

    Surprising fade test results

These results are in line to other tests available on the net. Inktec always shows good fading results and IS (MIS?) always shows bad results. I'm trying to stay away from IS because of this.

    Sorry, still confused... (ink choice)

I'll let you know for sure. jopereira is "Joaquim O. Pereira", initials and last name. Lisbon is wonderful for sure... in a 10-15km radius we have city, river, sea (beach) and mountains (Sintra). We have all but the money!!

    Sorry, still confused... (ink choice)

stratman, Your posts are very clear. I has about to go to octoink (IS), but with KMP pigment black as you said. Not sure about SqueasyFill bottles since I shouldn't refill that much and seringes are ok to me. You pointed me to tintenalarm.de (thanks) and they seemed to be very confident about...

    Sorry, still confused... (ink choice)

Thanks, that's important to me. Although tintenalarm.de sells inks that cost 35% more, I can manage at least a year with that ink quantity so I'll be paying ~8 more/per year - that's irrelevant in my book. IS ink would offer me more confidence as many forum members use them, but I'll take the...

Can someone tell what is going on ?

I'll take the hit... :) Forum newbies tend to ask again because: 1. Information is many times fragmented and not exactly aligned; 2. Information could be dated, so they tend to ask again to see if there are recent(/diferent) conclusions; Experts oppinions for "my particular" problem is always...

    Sorry, still confused... (ink choice)

I always think is easy to get the best if you have the money, the not so easy part is to get good performance with much less money. We know OEM ink are the best (and the most expensive), but other achieve 90% of this with 10% cost - that's the good part!! BTW, for those using IS inks from...

    Sorry, still confused... (ink choice)

Hi all, Thank you all for your valuable input. I'm more inclined to buy from tintenalarm.de as it claims to give good color reproduction and good UV fading properties. It costs a like more than equivalent IS inks, but 7-8 more in 500ml is not that much as I expect this volume to give me 2-3...

    Sorry, still confused... (ink choice)

@nche11 Yes, importing from US is out of question, high shipping costs and taxes. And yes, I'll go for inks from big companies. I've bought very cheap inks for my Brother but they don't match (not even close) OEM inks, although they have been VERY KIND to my printer head: not a single problem...

    Sorry, still confused... (ink choice)

Hi all, I'm still using original cartridges in my MX870. Since refilling will be future option, I've already choose German refill method, OEM cartridges, but ink is still in doubt. I've been reading a lot but I'm still confused about what should be my 'best' ink choice... reports are not...

When should I refill ink? Should I wait until printer stops printing?

But I spent 6 in ink and I'm still using it (THREE YEAR had pass)... yes, 1.06/100ml :) (http://www.do-patronen.de/index.php?cat=c48_Brother-Nachfuelltinte.html&XTCsid=e198fe2c001e91382ec03c858da4501d) I've recently made profiles and when I finally got my BROTHER to output acceptable prints...

When should I refill ink? Should I wait until printer stops printing?

Thanks stratman, I guess "precise color" is not exactly my thing. I do like colors to be right, but I think you meant something else :). Unless printing/head problems are due to this, I guess flushing is overdoing in my situation.

When should I refill ink? Should I wait until printer stops printing?

I've been a refiller for some time with my Brother MFC-440CN - but then, these Brother compatible cartridges I bought are just tanks, BIG tanks !! (30-40ml each color). They last a full year !! But now, these Canon cartridges are a bit more sofisticated. My big question is: do I really need to...

    PGI-525 and CLI-526

When I finally solved my Brother's MFC-440CN problem with cheap ink and got profiled my usual papers (http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=6333), a new MX870 came along for less than 115 at MediaMarkt :) :( (I'm just plain confused :/, really don't know if I'm happy or sad). Well...

    Profiles and Windows

I've configured Zan Image Printer to be "transparent" so I can print to this driver and have result immediatly in my printer. Smooth process, easy to setup. Funny, or not... My profile started to get wrong colors (I mean WRONG!!)... Got to PS (where my profiles were tested in first place)...

    Profiles and Windows

I could post a picture, but I'll keep you on the safe side - you could not take it :D Seriously, the inks I bought have a very different result from original Innobella (Brother) inks. Even so, a profiled paper is always better.

    Profiles and Windows

Opss! May I ask, why not? I have already created my profiles... Zan Image Printer takes printing requests, produces an ICC changed output based on my .ICM file (PDF, TIFF, JPG, etc.), and outputs this result imediatly to my MFC-440CN. What's wrong in this workflow? :/ Of course, this is only...
