I have a ip4600, these use the same cartridges as the ip3600, its just a smaller cartridge on these than ip4500.
Personally I don't get the big deal with chip resetters as you reset the chip but you don't necessarily completely refill the cart unless you faff about leaving it to settle to soak...
The money saving is amazing! I do 500 full colour passes (250 with 4 photos on one side, 250 with 3 on the other side with a border and title) card covers on ip4600 currently (but have acquired 2 x ip4500 and have a new head for the old one). I worked out this costs about 5 a month in ink. If...
Thats all very well but where do you get the storage clip from?!
Also I always fill up and use immediately, I don't wait overnight!
The only difference I do is I drill the hole further back and I wear a plastic glove and grip and hold the cartridge whilst holding and thus sealing the exit...
Wandered into a photographic shop the other day and found a stack of ip4500's, brand new, for 49.99 each!!! Needless to say I have bought two and am collecting one tomorrow and the other on Saturday.
No idea what the 'monthly duty cycle' is for an ip4500 (and now a ip4600) but I print 500 full colour sides a month, 3500 full colours photos in total.
I don't understand the 'monthly' thing..... I have always assumed a printer head has a semi-defined life based on use and not time, ie. I don't...
A couple of years. I print 500 x full colour A4 sides every month, 1750 photos (7 photos x 250). I find the head will clog (usually the cyan) and I end up either buying a new printer or head after 4-5 months. Considering that is 7-9000 photos I consider this to be a fair life for the...
I use ascprinting Canon ink and it is absolutely fine. I print hundreds of full colour pics a month (around 2500!). I personally don't see the point in importing ink from America when we have perfectly suitable ink available in the UK. Phoenixdirectuk are also suppliers of quality Canon...
Don't understand this comment. I am finding this as good as the ip4500. Granted there aren't compatible carts available...... yet....... but there weren't for the ip4500 when it came out! Yes if you use their new carts every time, the ip4600 will be very expensive to run, but nobody here is...
You need an ip4500 if you can get one, excellent printer with cli8 and pgi5 cartridges (dye and pigment black carts and cyan, magenta, yellow). Not available off the shelf but you can get fully guaranteed ones off ebay from Canon UK (refurbed but new printhead and carts). You can get cartridge...
Many thanks, I wasn't completely sure because everyone here kept saying 'get an ip4500 instead' in other threads.
I can now confirm they have clear tanks and the procedure is the same as on ip4500 pre-chip resetter, ie you tell it that you want to over-ride the ink monitor as you say and then...
Hi. I buy mine from ascprinting (email sales@ascprinting.co.uk) and find it very good. I have also started to use Phoenix Direct (phoenixdirectuk.co.uk). Both do Canon specific ink although I don't think asc do the pigment ink, but Phoenix do.
I do 500 full colour photo passes a month on...
My method is simple. Drill the hole in the top of the cartridge, use the rubber bungs you get in proprietory universal cartridge refill filling kits. When refilling I use disposable plastic gloves. Grip cartridge and seal exit (sponge) hole with finger covered in glove.... remove bung with...
Thanks for your help, but if you read my first post the problem is that I need it like now, the printing has got to be finished early this coming week! Have been to local Comet and out of stock! Going over to next town tomorrow.
