Most of the descriptive discrepancies that I see seem to be on ebay. But that is true regardless of what you are buying there. Descriptive consistency is not an ebay strong point whether it is shoe laces or shop vacs. Lots of sellers without a deep knowledge base. Good grief there are so many...
This being computer industry update Monday which generally follows computer industry update Sunday and is followed by computer industry update Tuesday, I have a question about Canon printer software updates especially when using Mac OS. Got the first one sent to my computer this morning (Canon...
In response to some of the earlier questions regarding enhancing the color performance of the 8220, I don't have much experience with this printer as yet. But in looking through the documentation there appears to be options to change color balance, brightness and contrast and a number of other...
As I said a few posts ago I am going to try to dial up the performance of the Canon via the supporting software. If in fact the Canon can produce the same sort of color performance that the Epson does, then I really don't care that I had to learn more about the Canon to make it happen. That the...
Well I did just print the very same Google map on the Canon that I had printed earlier on he dying 837. Now please keep in mind that I am not instructing the Canon in any way. So for example, I believe you can order up higher quality output for the Canon simply by using the slider on the screen...
I could see where the photo or color document output might be hard to distinguish especially for somebody like me. As for the nozzle checks, the two companies do things so differently. Yes they are both 6 tank machines. But the Espson is nozzle checking five separate colors with nothing mixed...
So, to your point Lucas, while these two printers do things very very differently I decided that at the first order I would take a few of the nozzle checks I had done with the Epson and compared it to the first nozzle check with the Canon. Again these two companies do nozzle checks in a...
To be honest I will probably forever be kicking myself for not having turned to Epson at a point in time when I could have gotten an 800 instead of the 837. None of us seem to be able to escape the tendency for peripheral manufactures to take a good series of products and drive the goodness out...
Well I left the 837 installed mainly for informational purposes. I figured I owned something back for people helping me here. So what info I could glean from the death throws of the 837 might be helpful to guys that really can do something with the info (as opposed to babe in woods me).
Any I...
More for the people here that really want to know everything about these printers, I decided to keep the 837 plugged in a little while longer to see what would happen. I should have mentioned this earlier but it had actually started banding blue/green before it began blotching light magenta. The...
I don't print nearly as much as many of the folks here. But when I do, I need the quality to be pretty good for documents and I think we probably all like good photo results.
I have now turned to Canon finally as well and hope it will be a good experience. While I think if I was as dedicated...
Since the performance of these printers one generation to the next invariably goes down, not up, that is not a bad idea. I probably stuck with HP too long. They were lousy printers 5-10 years ago and they are lousy printers now. Probably should have gotten off HP onto something else back then...
Well at first I thought there was a chance I was overreacting. My Artisan 837 started blotching light magenta and then would not recognize the OEM light magenta cartridge. Did a head cleaning which cleared up the blotching but figured this was the beginning of the end.
Quickly bought a Canon...
Took your advice regarding the vendor. He was very helpful. Noted that in his opinion the low tolerance plugs should be fine for an 8220.
Just for the fun of it, looked at his suite of products for Epson Artisan printers all the way from the 50, through the 700/800/837 series and the 1430. I...
On a subsequent search regarding grey, a poster reminded the OP to "remember to buy an extra cart for grey". No explanation given. But I guess this is the explanation....buy an extra dye black (not a pigment black) cart and put a grey chip on it. OK...so now off to try a search for instructions...
Thanks very much. Really appreciate the help. Was not real anxious to pay for OEM ink unless I really had to do it.
Well head off to the vendor's web site now to learn more.
Thanks again!
It is starting to blotch light magenta. Head cleaning cleared it up for now. But this is a known issue (not related to the light magenta color). Once it starts, it can be tough to control.
As for resetting the carts, at least for the 837, success appears spotty. It might be because it is two...
Have a new MG8220 and have been using an Epson Artisan 837 for about a year. Starting to have some issues with the 837 which prompted the 8220 buy. Figured I better get one while I could.
Now when I first got the 837 I was going to go all in on cart refilling. Two things stopped me:
The...
Interesting that you would say that. I just got an MG8220 figuring this 837 may not survive and 8220's are not made any longer. Seems all of us a prone to try to grab an older design before it disappears instead of buying a newer design. Might miss the ADF on the 837 although it does not work...
