Thank you. This is a common sealing method and it belongs in my list of various screws used. I added it along with a pointer to your post (see post #159 this link.)
Actually, I did it your way for many years. I sealed my Canon BCI-6 OEM cartridges by putting a small eye-screw through the ball...
Below is a SUMMARY of various screws used to seal the refill hole, along with links to related posts. I started keeping this list when I was sorting out which screw I wanted to use. I decided to post it as I think it might help others who are doing the same. The list may not include every screw...
I've been removing the ball in the Canon BCI-6 OEM cart for years. I think the ease (or difficulty) of doing it depends upon which instructions you follow. I follow the instructions below, but just up to the point the ball is removed.

snip Lacking an air pump, I applied my lips to the exit hole (no remarks please) and though not skilled in this technique, blew out a lot of the residual water. I expect I will have to wait...
I had a problem I could not resolve with my i960 print head. I wound up buying a new print head. While I was waiting on the new print head, I cleaned my cartridges using A Technique to clean Canon BCI-6 cartridges by Grandad35.
This is my first time to clean cartridges, I cleaned 18 of them...
Thank you! Glad you like it.
I thought about using velcro, but decided it was not needed.
I've cleaned 18 cartridges so far, and have never not moved the pin at all.

For cleaning carts, I like your hose very much, and I have it in mind to find some of this hose to make an adapter for my purge hose.
I made my purge hose to fit the print head intake ports, the small round metallic screens, so I can use it to clean my print heads. To clean cartridges, I add an...
Jane,
Another option. Canon BCI-6 carts are the best for refilling. You could flush the BCI-6 carts from your old S800 using Grandad's Canon BCI-6 cleaning technique.
Mixing cart brands can be tricky/problematic because they are made different and this means they might require different fill...
ghwellsjr,
I decided that the best way to demonstrate what I am getting is to show a picture printed with both settings. I added this picture to my post #17.
Please scroll up to post #17 to see an example of a picture printed on plain paper settings and another picture printed using matte...
ghwellsjr, when I was searching for ideas on what to do, I came across your posts telling about how you cleared the maze/serpentine after doing a vacuum seal. I was glad to know I was not the only one to have this problem. I came across very few posts related to blocked/plugged...
Air vent blocked, I cleared it by blowing into the maze using canned air.
This was a Magenta Canon BCI-6 OEM cartridge that I had recently cleaned and refilled using Grandad's techniques. The cart cleaned up beautifully, and the sponge filled 100% with ink. I must have gotten a little ink in...
