iP5000 v1.80 Printer Driver for Windows XP
Last Updated : 14-Jul-2008
Issue Number : 0900404201
From Cannon Australia.
It was a full OEM disk, but I transferred the drive from the old machine and upgraded it (from memory, been a while now!). Yes XP is basically Win 2K with mods, not a quantum leap so I would have thought that drivers would be OK --> but obviously not!
The photo prints still have a yellow hue...
Typically I have never had issues with normal un installation and reinstallation of drivers. Why XP would hang onto a Win 2k version of a driver in preference to a newly installed version I don't know, in fact why the installation program was not overwriting any remnants is a bit of a mystery...
A step forward! Errrrr.... I think :) If things stay stable!
I went back to basics... again... To me the intensity problem was still looking like drivers, test prints initiated from the printer where fine but from the OS they where sub par. Sooooo... I delete the drivers again as per normal...
You can actually see more on that scan than by eye, that is how light the light ink areas are. Like I said I feel that they are too light but never having done this before I don't know what I should expect.

OK done and uploaded.

Turns out that the scanner tweaked up can see more than my eye :)
++ I think I need to do another realignment after resetting the EEPROM.

Hmmmmmmmm.... done the glossy extended nozzle check print, however there is a catch, when I scan it I lose the detail and there looks to be missing lines where I can plainly see them on the darker grids and the lighter colour grids are totally MIA (on the scan). The darker (but still too light...
OK, did the camera thing and its still yellow, I guess that rules out the OS ---> so its back to the printer or the ink.
I did the extended nozzle check pattern again and had another look... its now later in the day and the light is better. I can now see the feint second row of colour grids...
Thks ---> That worked! :)
Cool arcane printer geek stuff... WOW :) LOL
The pattern appears complete.... errrrr... I suppose. The type quality is great, nice and black, now if I could get the normal type quality to that standard that, at the least, would be a step forward.
The only major...
Thanks for the test image!
Ink tanks! Oh pls give me some credit... am I coming across like an idiot or what? :)
Now using sRGB V4 colour space for monitor and printer --> not much change.
I printed that image --> I get a yellow hue across the grey and the red & green suck a bit (tech term)
I downloaded the MS Colour Control Panel and I have played with the colour spaces. I unloaded all of the ip5000 spaces and made the printer use the sRGB colour space that the monitor is using ---> basically no difference!
I'd love love to and its a great idea except that they live about a 1000 klm away. I just happened to be visiting them last week and noticed the difference in the quality of his line prints. He runs XP and a Pixma 4300, unfortunately I don't know anyone close with one I can swap easily.
Cheers

I also seem to use very little photo black ink, however I don't print many photo's (so makes sense? no?) because of the photo printing issue. FWIW... :)
That print is using Photoshop, the printers settings and the colour profile from the shot itself (I assume that comes from the Panasonic camera .jpg?) I have lots of choices printing from Photoshop but none seem to help much and I don't really understand what I am doing with all the options...
The drivers where uninstalled the new ones reinstalled as downloaded from Canons web site yesterday.
As stated before I have tested with brand new Canon carts and they deliver identical results to the refilled carts
Sample of original v print, scanned print standard print quality on bond so...
Hi Alex,
The yellow issue is the same across all the papers and print qualities I have tried from plain bond to glossy photo paper, high to standard quality. Yes I have played with the intensity settings on a one off basis to see what effect they have but I have not really had a satisfying...
