OK I guess I am not being clear. Either that or I don't understand (a distinct possibility). First of all my needle is 2" long. It penetrates the barrier between the sponge section and the reservoir section. However, about 1/8" into the reservoir section there is an indentation for the airhole...
Well 1st refill job on a BCI-6 and I thought I'd do it with this German method, since everyone says it's cleaner and easier. I drilled a hole apparently a bit too far down because then I had to slide the needle through the sponge. Realized immediately that that wasn't going to work. Drilled hole...
I thought of this however you can't just download Canon's profiles individually; other paper manufactureres, yes; but Canon no. I even tried to download the Pro9000 driver hoping I could extract the Pro9000 profiles, not because of the change in ink but because the Pro9000 supports more papers...
I don't know if they claim the profile is still correct but they do say to select in the driver Photo Paper Plus Glossy (if you have Glossy II paper). Photo Paper Pro has been replaced with Photo Paper Pro II which on the Canon website is not even listed as compatible with the i9900.
So based...
I just got the printer and most of the cartridges were low so I replaced the low ones with ink from Cartridge World. I've ordered Hobbicolors stuff. I don't mind experimenting with profiles, especially since the CAnon papers have changed over the years (Photo Paper Plus Glossy II, for example)...
So the CAnon i9900 driver comes with the following profiles: SP1, MP1, PR1, PR2. I did a search and thought I found that Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy (and II) is SP1 and was using that profile. The colors were a bit off and so as an experiment I used PR1 with significantly better color results...
An update. I ended up getting a used i9900. The deal was too good and I like the fact that it uses firewire (I have a Mac). Experimenting with prints and so far so good. Will be trying out Hobbicolors very soon.
Thanks all!
just when i thought I'd get a Canon the lure of the Epsons has grabbed me, particularly the 1400, which can now be gotten new for under $200. Hobbicolors doesn't make carts for Epsons. I see a bunch of alternatives on ebay but want to pick a vendor with good inks. Don't want to crap out a new...
So I am just about to pull the trigger on either a slightly used Pro9000 or i9900 but the cost of the OEM cartridges scares me. which brought me to this forum.
Yes, I see all kinds of Internet ads for cheaper cartridges or refillable systems. I also called my local Cartridge World who has...
