Do you think ink.co.uk are for real?
Their customer care centre, phone number, web site design and their general T&Cs are shared with eroticshop.co.uk (not a customer - just found with Google). Google seems to have very few links (and no recommendations) for this company.
I...
I'm basing this reply on an ip4300 (Win7 x64), but I imagine the ip4500 will be similar ...
When you print, what is the setting shown under File -> Print -> Preferences -> Paper Source ?
Yours is probably set to "Paper Allocation", so the paper source is set automatically. Mine is set to...
I wonder why your refill shop says dye inks are cheap when they charge 3 to 4 times as much as pigment ink, based on your figures.
There seems to be an opportunity here for a Sri Lankan entrepreneur to export cheap pigment ink to the UK - your price would only be a fifth of normal UK prices...
Gimp version 2.6.8 ... http://www.gimp.org/downloads/
I have used Gimp for several years and am currently running it on Windows 7 64-bit. Works fine except for one significant problem (in my opinion) - printer support - some printer settings cannot be set by Gimp's "File / Printer /...
I have bought Hobbicolors ink several times, imported into the UK, because ...
1. It comes with independant recommendations on the web (few UK suppliers can claim that).
2. It definitely includes pigment black (many UK suppliers claim their ink is "compatible", but sell dye black instead of...
IP3600 IP4600 IP4700 MP540 MP560 MP620 MP630 MP640 MX860 MP980 and MP990
Maybe some others - it's hard to keep up with Canon's range changing so often. These cartridges are not used in the US (and probably not the Japanese) versions of these printers. Check with http://www.canon.co.uk before...
The error codes for an ip4200 are in my Canon ip4200 Service Manual. I know this isn't an S300, but it's likely that Canon have kept some continuity/consistency in the meaning of the codes ...
Is it
1. Flashing Orange - Green continuously with no pauses, or
2. Flashing O - G a number of times...
For the benefit of anyone with a similar problem, I can report that the printer now works beautifully with its new print head.
Looking forward to at least another 3 years trouble-free printing - but, just in case, I've cleaned the old print head and kept it, so next time a quick swap will prove...
In the UK, both the MP560 and MP630 use the same 520/521 cartridges. I don't think the MP630 is sold in the US - the US equivalents are the MP560 and MP640 which also use the same cartridges (220/221 series carts in the states).
I don't know why Canon started using different cartridges in the...
New printhead for MP610, MP810, ip4500, ip5300 is available for 40.25 in the UK, including postage, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220524306490

ruffin:
I've just measured my ip4300 and I estimate the clearance = 3.5mm. So the maximum allowable protrusion above the cartridge would be about 3mm.
This is plenty for a panhead plug - provided the plug is pushed down as far as it will go into the cartridge. This was a useful check for me...
The 100% black test (see post #3 above) wasn't a good test. It's true the fault doesn't show on 100% black, but it does show on greyer colours - this image is 100%, 50%, 75% and 25% black ...
You have to look hard to see the faults in the screen image, but on the original the banding is...
My first thought was that this was software, but I will now concede that there really is a fault.
This section of a "Service Test Print" clearly shows photo-black is not firing on all cylinders ...
I have been reading your (ghwellsjr) 2006 analysis of print heads -...
OK, pharmacist, I printed a 40mm square in 100% black on "Glossy Photo Paper", "Standard Colour Intensity". Then scanned the image, shown below. Before the ink was fully dry, it was possible to see some banding where the ink had been laid down. But after a minute all banding had disappeared and...
This is what the CLI-8 BK (Dye Photo Black) line used to look like on my ip4300 nozzle check (Oct 2009) ...
Scanned image
This is what it looks like now (Dec 2009) ...
It's fainter in the top half, but there's no indication of any nozzles missing. The rest of the nozzle check is perfect and...
