I have a MG5350 which I use 521 / 550 carts in and change over the chips so they will work.I prefer those carts with the window for refilling . Plus that way I don't need to get a new chip resetter ;)
£140 new is the cheapest I've found so far in ripoff UK :he
I'll look around for...
Hi guy's I haven't been on here for sometime  but I'm still refilling my carts OK :celebrate
I was looking at A3 printers but don't want to spend big bucks ;).
I've seen the Ix6550 printer going for as little as £140 which on the face of looks like a good deal.
I believe I'm right in...
I've started to use squeeze bottles a while back and the top fill method with my 521/520 carts. Is there a way to stop the air/ink bubbles when filling ?:rant
Great advice, thanks. I was surprised the print head failed seeing as the printer was only a few months old and seeing as it happened just after putting in a refilled cart, I was sure that was the problem at the time. I will taking your advice about weighting the carts and the blow test.
Printer is a MG5350 . Carts are OEM 521 and 501 just so I had the window to see the ink and I top filled them. Of cause I swapped the chips and reset them from the 526 and 525 carts.;). Ink is all Octoink .
Here is my other thread about the black problem...
OK after my print head having to be replaced I'm very concerned about putting a refilled cart in my machine again.
Are there any sure ways of testing the cart without causing any damage to the print head?
I've just refilled a 520 PGBK cart in place of a 526 and I'm getting no printing at all from it! It's showing up OK as a full cart and I've tried blowing the ink out and it flowing OK... Help!!
I did a top fill and it has a silicone plug in place.
Anyone looking for ammonia in the UK can get it from Homebase. It comes in a white bottle and is part of their value range. :). Just look in the household cleaning section.
My carts always seems to run out at the wrong time so I'm making up a second set of 521,520 carts with 526,225 chips.
I have Octoinkjet cart clips on them but do I need to put some Aluminium tape over the top vent holes if there going to sit around for a while?
Just read this thread and found it helpful!
I've just started to try this method and I'm finding the ink is coming out of the fill hole on the second fill after the half way fill:barnie. Is this normal?
My carts were also flushed a week ago and the sponge doesn't seem to be changing colour...
