Actually it looks like the ip4600 and ip4700 also use the same printhead. If you can get the ip4700 for a good enough price it may be the better deal. Unless you are concerned with electrical problems with your ip4600 burning out a new printhead - the new printhead could be used in it. As far a...
kingmar,
To have done what you seem to be saying you did would take a very sharp needle and a good bit of force to pierce the plastic barrier. If the needle entry hole is drilled correctly the needle just slides along the bottom of the cartridge and rather easily enters the spongeless chamber...
Certainly not - there are separate nozzles in the printhead for each color. If the picture of your nozzle check is correct, it appears that the Magenta ink is contaminating the Black somehow - either because of a bad seal with the Maganta cartridge or within the printhead.

I did a quick Google search on your Disc Duplicator - not sure if it was your model though. It seems you need to connect two ports - USB for the printer and FireWire for the duplicator part. Both hooked up? If so, the duplicator driver must not have installed properly.
I copied the following...
My comments:
0. Good
1. Method works well
2. Why not Image Specialist (www.precisioncolors.com) or Hobbicolors - should be cheaper
3. Guess they are OK. Your link doesn't show picture. Must have at least 2" needles for German method. I personally use squeeze bottles from Howard Electronics

I have been looking for a Service Manual for the Canon Pro9000 Mk II. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to have one for it or the previous Pro 9000. Even emailed him about it. Anyone have any other sources for one?

The pads will not be with a new printhead so don't order the printhead hoping to get the pads. Not sure about whether it would be with the absorber pads, but I kind of doubt it. I just looked in a Parts Catalog for an ip4000 and it appears that the only way to get purge pads for that printer...
You are probably talking about the purge pad. I had one do the same thing on an ip4500. Mine could be seen sitting on the ink absorber pads on the bottom of the printer. I ended up taking the printer apart to retrieve it. Probably wouldn't have hurt to have left it there - didn't seem to be...
For refilling Canon printers the two inks that many on here use are:
Image Specialist - can be purchased from precisioncolors.com (owner supports this forum)
Hobbicolors - look on E-Bay
Many happy users of both products and the price is about the same for both. Both companies give very good and...
Actually the reason I used WD-40 was that I realized that it was more solvent than lubricant. The way the purge pads were acting it seemed as though something was gumming up the mechanism.
I ran a test this morning to see what, if any, effect WD-40 had on styrene plastic. Styrene seems to be the...
I had a similar problem with an ip4500 - purge unit hung up and one of the small pads flipped out of it's holder when I tried to manually move the purge pad holders. My pad actually ended up falling onto the absorber pads at the bottom of the printer. Had to disassemble the unit to retrieve it...
Button cells are either alkaline or silver oxide. Most of the more common (cheaper) button cells are alkaline, which is what is probably in your resetter.
I was using Hobbicolors inks for several years and switched to Image Specialists inks (bought from Precision Colors) about a year ago.
Reason - IS inks come from a known source; Hobbicolors won't tell us the source or country of origin (as far as I can tell from talking to him and comments on...
The picture you show of modified CLI-8 cartridges - what printer are they in?
The problem with that method and CLI-8 cartridges in either my ip4200 or ip4500s is that the screw-eye will stick up too far to clear the area between the top of the cartridge and the printer housing. When the...
Are you sure that the Q (quality) settings in the print driver are the same for all cases? I can only set Q=2 for Matte paper while for Photo Paper Pro I can set it to Q=1. Check and see what each is set for, for each paper type.
BTW - is that a test image you found somewhere? If so, where...
Well I don't know what you mean by fake, but - I have a Blue Resetter and it has screws on the bottom and it works fine. The original battery could definitely be bad. My daughter got one of those pictures frames as a present. The remote didn't work when she first tried it. The unit even had a...
Sounds like the same problem this fellow had - see this thread: http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=30067#p30067
Pharmacist suggested to him that the battery might be running low. Never did hear anything back. Would be interesting to know if that is how the resetters work when the...
I use Costco Kirkland Glossy paper, Image Specialist dye based ink (Canon ip4500, ip4200) and profile using Profile Prism, and have gotten good profiles with resultant very good and accurate color prints. The prints match well with my Eye1 Display2 calibrated Dell 2209WA monitor.
