To fotofreak,
Actually I took the name Osage from a tree with very dence wood, that is the US is various called Bois de Arc, Osage Orange, or just plain hedge. So Osage =wooden headed.
And Dave.1--forgot to mention that another possible option is start out with third party pre-filled...
To Dave.1,
After some thought I decided I have the time to give you better than a mere enjoy as a send off into the world of refilling. As somewhat a newby refiller, I want to leave you with some facts and observations.--hopefully something to guide you as you read up on refilling.
1. In...
To Dave.1,
The MP500 is chipped---so you guessed right.
In terms of refilling----read up on this forum---lots of good suppliers, but make sure the ink
you get is formulated for Canon printers. And I doubt Websnail would steer you wrong and if good deals are offered its sure something to...
Hey Rob,
In terms of those i560's---maybe you can peddle the printheads for people with printers that those interchange with. Then peddle the i560 with a missing printhead to someone with a working printhead for it but a brokem printer.
To On30trainman,
Who states no more OEM cartridges for me-----did you load the new printer up with other cartridges?
Many save the Canon OEM's and sell them on ebay. Another way to turn a bargain into a super bargain.
No time to chat--I think I will check out outpost.com
Excellent post pebe!
Still trying to digest all the implications and ways to test your contentions.
But I do comment that how long the ink inlet hole is left open during the refill process
may be another variable I don't quite understand. But I do believe you are going in the right direction in...
read your post and now feel a little better about being in the USA.
But have you tried www.inksupply.com which seems to carry MIS inks? Although not super clear, it looked like they had some internation shipping options.
You can go to the www.hobbicolors.com website which is not really ready...
Have to agree with Websnail,
I should have restricted my remarks to Canon spongeless. Why they seem to work better in Epsons beats the heck out of me. But may have something to do with the design of the ink outlet on the printhead.
To SRS,
Looked at the data sheet on the 3310--actually the 3.5 ml if ink is a worst case serario--some of the color cartridges have up to 6 ml of ink and the black text cartridge has a whopping 10 ml. Thats an ocean of ink if you happen to be a microscopic organism. The only plus I can see is...
There has been some past threads on spongeless cartridges. The latest one from spongeless from weink. Its on the same page as your post and about half way down.
But bottom line in my mind---spongeless may be a good idea in theory but does not seem to work in practice. Too many trying...
I have never dealt with inkgrabber but a problem of this nature is somewhat an acid test of any vendor. In the interest of fair play, I think they have some rights to respond---and we can see if they stand behind their products.
But a batch of bad cartridges has huge damage potential--to...
Thank you Hpnetserver for the responce,
I believe you are right and quickly sealing the ink inlet hole may prevent the sponge from just absorbing ink from the reserve tank until it can absorb no more. Clearly the capillary force of the sponge is much greater than the gravational force of the...
The MP750 would certainly be a bargain at $100.00. But have not seen a retail ad on those units for months. But I do note, the 3/12/06 issue of the Indianapolis Star again carried an ad for a Canon 780
for $150.00 after rebates at Fry's electronics.
To InkjetMike,
Short answer---at that price get them both.---but the ip6000 has the much higher manufactured list price.
The ip4000 is a five color more general purpose printer---good at both regular text printing and very good at photoprinting.
The ip6000 loses the larger black text...
I believe but don't know for a fact that the BCI-24 text black is pigment based and the colors are dye based---at least for Canon OEM ink---just like the inks used in the BCI-3&6 cartridge line. In fact the Canon OEM inks in both the BCI-3&6 and the BCI-24 lines may be almost identical. But...
To RC and Alchemist,
Some valid points are being made here. Price is just one of the areas where these suppliers compete over. With a lower price always being desired.---even in very small quanities. When the ink mixer only get economy mixing in super large amounts. And then usually sells--not...
I have to agree with CanonPhreak,
Customer service and confidence in your supplier is very important---at least to me.
And at the end of the day does it matter if you are buying ink at a rate of $100 or $400 a gallon-----when Canon wants to charge you $4300.
Maybe to a high volume user it may...
I have little extra advive--other than if you don't need a fax you are as well off with a MP750 as with a MP780--and only the MP760 has the better scanner---but those three are same genertion printers --are unchipped--use the exact same cartridges as your i860, and if only your internal...
