To Hpnetserver,
Thank you for weighing in and giving the information that there have been two types of hobbicolors cartridges. Since my virgin blanks were ordered fairly recently, and had a very white appearing virgin sponge, I assume I got the latter type. But another test might be in the...
Thanks again for a prompt response fotofreek,
I do believe your conclusion that I am doing things correctly is right. Given two facts.
(1) Even though the refilled cartridge sponge shows 100% color infusion when using hobbicolors ink, zero liquid ink shows in the air gap between the top of the...
Now I am totally confused on this do it slowly bit----Be it a Canon OEM cartridge of a hobbicolor empty blank---in BCI-6 you have two sections---an empty reserve tank with about 7 ml capacity and a sponge section that can absorb about 7 ml of ink. So you inject some initial amount of ink into...
Thanks for the prompt answer fotofreek,
But I am still wondering about is it normal for the top sponge areas that were not saturated on the initial Canon OEM fill to become readily saturated on first refill--and also asking if this happens with just hobbicolors inks or with other brand inks as...
Taking the advive of drc023, I decided to go ahead and refill the three existing Canon OEM cartridges I had and had run to the point of the low ink warning. Some had been out of the printer for up to six months, but had their ink outlet hole capped by the wing nut immediately when they were...
Yes Dave.1,
Run don't walk to your nearest Fry electronic store---who have the Canon MP780 on sale for $150.
after rebates this week.--the flagship Canon MP printer with non-chipped cartridges--which is based on the Canon ip4000 pruinter engine, but also has a A4 flatbed scanner, and also a...
To a certain extent I wonder if its in fact your problem---there is nothing wrong with changing your settings to greyscale printing to force monochrome printing. But if you always leave your settings on greyscale it may result in ultra rapid ink use in cleaning cycles. And the way to test that...
What disturbs me about the Canon marketing is two things. (1) While its great that Canon is working to improve inkjet technology, Canon is doing it in responce to Epson hype rather than reality---marketing to the unwashed masses---while at the same time so inept as to miss the fact US users...
So now its better put that what is wanted is a second printer that is more a photoprinting specialist----lots of Canons in the six and eight color flavors. And even some wide carriage options. And I see Canon has announced the pro 9500 model that uses 10 pigmented inks.
Now you have a real problem.
After some research I concluded to go with a new Canon ip4000 for economy reasons for my wife. My initial strategy was to use the OEM cartridges furnished and then replace those with dirt cheap third party cartridges.
After some time on this forum I decided to try refilling my own...
What seems odd here in the initial question, is why a per say a higher end Canon printhead should be more reliable than a more basic four or five color printhead? It seems to me that as the nozzle count in a printhead goes up, so does the potential of something going wrong, and at the same time...
To doctodd,
I have an Mp730 and an ip4000--and its the ip4000 printer engine that the Mp780 is based on. With neither printer have I experienced the kind of ink wasteage you report.
But I assume you are still in warranty----I would call Canon tech support and ask why? Maybe you have a bad unit...
Will note I was in Walmart to day, they had 13 1/2 inch long #8 stainless steel pan head sheetmetal screws for $1.48------but not an O-ring in the entire store. But I did get some #0 O-rings at a nearby auto store. I note the #0 zize O-ring is so small that it must be twisted up the thread...
I just fail to see why a prior Epson user who has been already burned by the curse of clogged printheads and excess cleaning cycles would even consider getting another Epson. In every forum I have ever visited, that common complaint is there from various Epson users.
Admittedly, Epson has some...
Thank you drc023 for your responce,
It will be a week or so before I get conviently close to the local hardware store and I will see what they have in stock to best meet my needs.
Thanks.
For what its worth, hobbicolors does ssem to ship outside of the US---although you may have to set up a pay pal account or find someone who has a paypal account.
You can either type hobbicolors in the ebay search bar or go to their web site at www.hobbicolors.com to get contact information...
To Xmastree,
If I read this correctly you are refilling using a bulk ink from a non canon source---and refilling by using a preused Canon OEM cartridge. You then notice that with Blue and magenta the Canon sponge does not seem to absorb your bulk ink readily.---or reliably feed ink during...
