Generally I have no problems at all mixing brands, do it all the time. Could simply have been one bad cart, which is not at all uncommon, from any company. Glad your printer is working again!
Neil
First, this sounds dumb, but make sure you've got the right carts in the right place.
Second, I've printed out tens of thousands of excellent prints with all profiles and combinations- no problemo
here's a scan of a print made moments ago, plain paper, high quality, using all G&G colors-- its...
Hi y'all.
Okay, I have an extra perfectly working Canon i960 six color BCI-6 cartridge printer for sale-- (I have 5 other Canon i960s-, an ip4200 (chipped carts-- blecch) and an ip3000 (not chipped, but only 4 color) this i960 is a spare)
These things are bullet proof, and I will include a...
I don't know what Windolene is, but I have used DENATURED ALCOHOL to successfully submerge a stubborn head for 5 minutes, rinsed with hot water under the tap for 2--- voila like new.
It shouldn't take repeated soaking.
This was a head rejected as no good by official Canon techs.
I would not...
Today I received a CASE of ink from Inkgrabber-- they even have the old style labels with color specific for each color cart.
No leaks. No problems, great colors.
Mention my name and you may use this email as well- she assisted me in my case

I never edit anyone's posts but my own- and I removed some of my previous comments regarding alotofthings, after hearing the other side of the story. There's always two sides, and frankly, I'm not about to jump to conclusions -
Again, I've stated my experience with customer service at...
I had a similar failure rate on one order I recieved-- then the new carts with red labels arrived and these were all fine.
Yes, 75% is high and I believe it is possible-- but I also believe that it is very unusual. Get a set from Inkgrabber for all of $16 and see what you get.
I recieved a...
This is exactly the kind of COMMERCIAL PROPAGANDA I hate so much--
Pc Magazine test of aftermarket inks-- here: http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,111767,00.asp
PC World makes all its money advertising for companies like Canon and other major manufacturers.
So what do you think they...
I'm not sure what the complaint is--
To avoid fading you must store your photos out of light in albums with photo sleeves preventing air circulation.
As I've stated many times, one can't expect archival quality from any dye ink as used in Canons unless stored extremely carefully, and then
only...
Joseph at alotofstuff spent considerable time with me on the phone a couple of months ago regarding carts and ink.
He told me that yes, indeed, you were the first to complain of this problem at his company.
In fact, all of the carts I got from alotofthings were perfectly fine.
The...
I had long discussions with alotofthings about G&G carts.
I have only heard of four people now (you are #4) with this issue.
NOTE:>>>By contrast, two of my neighbors exclusively use G&G, and got carts in this same period-- neither had a problem. They have the same printer I do.
Its not the...
Well, of 11 brands of ink I test, not a single one matched another-- especially the inexpensive carts, they were all different
proof- http://www.neilslade.com/Papers/inktest.html
Apparently out of this group of 11, not one shared the same ink formula or source.
Thats fine-- in theory
but the fact is, out of 11 brands of inks I tested -
every single one of them had different characteristics.
There may be several companties that share the same ink formula from the same "ink manufacturer",
but thus far, I haven't found two that have.
MIS and...
Please see my test page at
http://www.neilslade.com/Papers/inktest.html
My feeling is that now that I am certain the G&G is giving me the excellent results out of 8 other inexpensive carts, why bother going elsewhere.
I also have an ip3000-- and 4 i960s.
I use the 6 color printers for anything important, but the ip3000 is much faster for plain paper, or prints with large areas of white.
No problems reported with black label carts--
and after snooping around a bit-- almost no one had the leaky cart problem I was having-- so its kind of a mystery.
My neighbor goes through tons of G&G carts, and he didn't get a bad one-- so I think it was related to the age of the printer in...
Just to clarify, some Canon printers have 2 black carts-- one for text the other for photos-- I don't know if anyone has refilled plain dye black in both carts-- I've never used anything but the regular stock black colors ever-- I print text on laser jets in general, and all my Canon printers...
Hmmmm, interesting to read all these reports.
A couple of notes:
1) I've used MIS ink for years, I have 5 printers, it doesn't clog any more than any other inks including Canon. Anyone who blames this ink for their problems- well, this hasn't been my experience at all, its been a wonderful...
In terms of printers-- its hard to beat refilling the older un-chiped Canon printers-- I now have 5 i960 printers that take BCI-6 carts and one ip3000 that takes the same. However, I gave up refilling this year because it wasn't worth my time just to save $1.50 a cart- now that I've tested the...
