Canon Pro 10 vs Epson ET8550

On this test image that I choose for the diversity of pictures we see that the et8550 has more saturation however on the Tuscany picture we see that the pro 10 does a bit better in the sky probably thanks to PM and PC inks. The darks to be honest look more or less the same. Except the guy with...

    Reviving a Canon pro 10

The price increased ! I paid 750e for it. To be honest, I will not refill the ET8550, 70ml of ink cost 16e I have other things to do than save 5e per bottle and having much worst quality inks. ATM I am having an internal thought about what I am doing with 2 printers since the ET8550 from the...

    Reviving a Canon pro 10

that's very interesting that Dye inks from Epson do not work on canon printer. Too bad I think this would have been a great combo

A basic guide (see post #1) to setting up ARGYLL CMS profiling on your computer

Yes, I always use a white sheet of paper that does not have OBAs under my targets, but the sheet is the same on the measurements with or without a ruler. To be honest, I think this is just data to consider. The profiles look perfect so I would not bother too much with this. I just wanted to...

    Reviving a Canon pro 10

that's not surprising ^^ Precision Color even modified it to run with Pigment ink (I don't know how reliable this is). But jokes a part, I think that a pro 100 refilled with ET8550 inks + G550 red ink + Custom PM and PC made with distilled water of the ET8550 inks will be probably a very cheap...

    Reviving a Canon pro 10

Why no go with Lucia pro? Thats the inks that are in the pro 300. So basically you make the pro 10 = pro300 since they have the same head (maybe software is different).

Canon Pro 10 vs Epson ET8550

After buying a color Munky and doing with ICC profiles with ArgyIICMS, I am now in a new good base to start comparing the printer. My next test was the Fotospeed Platinium Etching, however from what I have tested this applies to other Fotospeed mate papers + canon pro premium mate and Epson...

A basic guide (see post #1) to setting up ARGYLL CMS profiling on your computer

The size of a thin mate paper is added I guess is 0.15mm not sure that is what makes the difference. In my opinion is more due tu the refection of the light in the guide (even if it’s black) that might somehow have an impact. The case of the CM adds at least 0.7cm to the size of the device and...

A basic guide (see post #1) to setting up ARGYLL CMS profiling on your computer

Hi, Guys I wanted to share a discovery that I made recently, while trying out my new guide I discovered this: On a very BIG pink patch (applies to white also, so far I have tested 2): Without ruler: Result is XYZ: 60.946693 42.311576 46.983188, D50 Lab: 71.085207 53.738058 -15.637152 ISO Vis...

A basic guide (see post #1) to setting up ARGYLL CMS profiling on your computer

I just found it! Basically is the mac viewer that is not good, with Gamut vision the profile look more or less the same (slight advantage for the Argy one in terms of volume) I think we should consider to NOT TRUST COLOR SYNC from macOS. I just discovered this when I did an ICC profile for...

A basic guide (see post #1) to setting up ARGYLL CMS profiling on your computer

I don't have the values of the xrite application it's I1 studio so I can not get everything from there. Looking at the test prints of the cheap glossy paper, the Xrite profiles look better. I guess they must have a pretty good algorithm that with few patches they can more or less determine...

A basic guide (see post #1) to setting up ARGYLL CMS profiling on your computer

when I use a spotread command for argy on a back spot (check with ti2 which one is real black) for a mate paper it gave to me: Mate paper for this cheap glossy paper:

A basic guide (see post #1) to setting up ARGYLL CMS profiling on your computer

this is also what I would like to understand. My assumption is in the algorithm used by Argy. in the attachment you can find the files. the ".ti1" is the patches, the ".ti2" is the patches position on the paper, and the ".ti3" is the measured values.

A basic guide (see post #1) to setting up ARGYLL CMS profiling on your computer

Hi All, I am playing around with the Color Munki and ArgyIICMS, I run my test on very cheap glossy paper (until I get some working workflow). I did a profile with i1 studio (default CM software) and another one with Argy. I am quite surprised to see the black levels of the profile generated by...

Canon Pro 10 vs Epson ET8550

So then from what you said it will be a better option to go with the colormunki/i1 studio if I don't want to put 500e in a i1 pro2?

    Some tests with the ET-8550

From what I have tested on the Epson Archival Mate paper if you print with the Epson Matte driver setting, the images are awful, very washed out. With the VFA setting is much better since it uses pigment ink. however, I do this it is quite bad. I did another test today with my pro 10, MK ink is...

Canon Pro 10 vs Epson ET8550

I found a new problem, fotospeed a brand that I quite like, does their profiles for Mate Paper with PK instead of MK, and the custom profile need to respect a certain size therefore I can't ask them to create a custom profile with the use of MK ink. (Yes I could use the trick with the Qimage...
