A few weeks ago, I tried to unclog the photo black on my MP830.
Since the photo black was clogged, there are lots of ink in the reservoir after multiple cleaning cycles. But the MP830 was telling me that the photo black was empty.
I think your purge unit is not working. The purge outlet tubing is clogged. Doing more printhead cleaning will waste more ink.
Flood the left purge pad with Windex. The pad that the printhead parks on. Close the cover and let the printer do its thing. Wait a few minutes. Open the cover...
If I remember correctly, someone said the CLI-221 is shorter than the CLI-8. If it is shorter, the CLI-8 is too tall to clear the MP620 ceiling. Please check the height before your printer trying to move it to the parking position.
The reason that I do not like other inkjet manufactures:
Brother AIO:
The printhead and the ink tank are piped with tubing similar to CIS configuration. It is very hard to get at the purge pad and the printhead to do unclogging. Replace printhead in not a few minute job like Canon.
HP AIO...
I don't know anything about the printer that you mentioned. I can give you the owner's view of Canon MX-850 AIO.
1. It has network interface. All computer in my house can share this printer.
2. Double-sided ADF allows me to copy 2-sided document with ease. Save me time by not copy one...
By printing large blocks of color may have killed the color nozzles. When the printhead is clogged, printing large blocks of color will kill the printhead because there is not enough ink going through the printhead to cool it. Eventually, the printhead overheat... and die.

Error code 5100 is carriage error. If you only printed 30 pages, it is still under warranty. Send it to Canon for warranty repair. If you attempt to repair yourself, you may void the Canon warranty.
About a week ago, my i550 prints orange instead of yellow on the nozzle check output. After a cleaning cycle, nozzle check is normal. The orange nozzle check returns after a day without printing.
i550 magenta is next to the yellow. It seems the magenta is leaking to the yellow nozzle over...
6502 error = Ink Tank Position Error = None of the ink tank position is detected.
I found this error code from MP830 service manual. Relating to what you are doing, this error explanation may apply to your case. But I have no idea how to fix it as I do not use CISS.
With the LoneStarMBA...
It uses BCI-3eBk Black, BCI-6Bk Black, BCI-6C Cyan, BCI-6M Magenta, BCI-6Y Yellow. These cartridge do not have chip. This is a plus. These ink tanks are big comparing with the new ink tanks.
With the black nozzles clogged, I will not pay $60. My time worth money. An average user will not...
First thing come to mind is flow problem. Your cyan may not be flowing as freely as other colors. Is there any back pressure build-up after a few days of usage?
Search your local Kijiji or Craiglist ads for people selling them. But it will take time. Most of the time, the printhead is clogged. But people on this forum can give you a hand.
Have you clean the chip contacts at the printhead carrier? There are 4 sets of contacts. They are at the front of the printhead carrier. You need to look straight down from the carrier to see the contacts. But the MX700 cover only opens halfway. You may not be able to look straight down...
