After studying the wealth of advises about how to start learning to print in B&W I invested quite some time in using color images, converting and printing.
It is with some hesitance that I attach to this a copy of a B&W image I made from our daughter, hoping to read your critique and advice to...
Just by chance I found a supplier of the (black) "refill adapter" which Jtoolman uses in his videos regarding modifying and refilling Epson 3800/3880 carts.
OctoInkjet in the UK offers this adapter (in white color) and doesn't require the purchase of large quantities. You can buy just one at...
@Birdie
You asked: "Is there some place I can get fresher chipsets? Or send these out for resetting (if possible - I have no idea if they were at or below 15% but I think I have the old carts).
I tried hard to find chips to replace the OEM chips on the Epson carts. So far I haven't found any...
@Birdie
It must be Epson trying to make it impossible to use re-filled OEM carts?
The first thing to watch is when the green light comes up when resetting, to keep it like that until the green light extinguishes.
I had a problem that after a successful reset the former ink level on the LCD was...
@martin0reg,
- I have like you, a resetter with a check next to WT-3800E on the package. But this will also not reset LK, LLK and Vivid LM,
- then my new resetter called QE 589 Chip resetter which resets all 9 chips of the Pro 3880 to full.
I opened the QE 589 and took a picture of its logo...
Please find herewith a picture of the resetter that will reset all 9 carts of the Pro 3880 to full .
Seller "RJ International Group, Inc - Winnetka Ca. 91306, email: .... Removed !
Harry
@martinOreg
The new resetter produces a green light on the three carts mentioned before.
This was not the case with my older resetters. Just red no green lights
I have driver version 9,33 and firmware vP030D8+
LFP Remote Panel informs that this is the latest update.

This morning I received the new resetter I ordered from "RJ International Group, Inc - Winnetka Ca. 91306"
As I wrote before I could not reset: T5807 LK, T5809 LLK and T580B vivid LM.
I tested the new resetter as follows:
- I opened the ink cover;
- Took out the first cart T5807, which so far...
This would not be necessary because I have the complete new set of carts that came with the new 3880. However as I wrote before the new T5809 (LLK) and the new T580B( viv LM), can not be reset to full with my resettersI
I wait for the resetter on its way to me and hope that that will solve the...
@The Hat:
Can you help me, or anybody out there, to find detailed information regarding how finding firmware upgrades in the 3880 software and how to turn these off?
Harry
Although I invested already in 4 resetters in the course of more than a year with very lilted success, I decided to give it another final try because the seller "directfineart@gmail.com" in California was very convincing that his resetter would reset all carts on my 3880. Also the price was...
I recently replaced a Pro 3800 by a new Pro 3880.
I kept a set of 9 old carts of my 3800 (dated 2009) which had been made re-fillable.
I did put these old carts in the new 3880. All carts were accepted in the 3880 except T5806 (LM) and T5803 (M). I then purchased second hand, T580A (viv M)...
As far as using e.g. the ICC profiles that Eric Chan developed for the Pro 3880, I have read that with the latest Epson drivers for the Mac (which I assume I must have on my new 3880) you can no longer use these ICC profiles in conjunction with the ABW printing mode if you select "LR manages...
I do have Lightroom 5 and I am going to follow the advise you gave me and learn printing in B&W.
There is one matter that still confuses me:
I understood from what I read that in B&W mode one can not or shouldn't use ICC profiles.
However Eric Chan did built special ICC profiles for the...
To be honest, so far I have never printed a black & White photograph.
I like to start the advent of doing so, but I would highly appreciate to receive some advise to how to go about doing so.
Can I just take a photograph I like, and use my printers (3880) Black & White setting and print?
It must...
* I forgot how to determine what the actual firmware version is on my Pro 3880?
* As far as I know it seems to be impossible to remove firmware from the Epson Pro 3880 software?
Is this correct?
Thank you for you're reply.
Harry
I just started using my new Pro 3880.
I printed an auto nozzle check and a few 5 x 7" photos
I noticed that there is already a lot of ink in the waste tank.
An empty tank weights 179 g, mine already 285 g.
Is it normal that I have already used 106 g approx. 106 ml mainly black ink?
