Denatured? Ouch. That will attack some plastics, it isn't obvious because it does so slowly.
How does a nozzle check look? When did this happen? IE, have you been using this and it was fine until lately, or has it been this way since you got it?
The ink is probably going down from print head...
How much free space on your hard drive? When was the last time you defragmented? I've seen and heard of these problems when free space is running out, and Windows can only use unbroken space for it's swap files. So 2Gig free space is -not- 2Gig useable free space, as it is always broken up by a...
Hm... good question. The CIS itself shouldn't clog as the heads would, although an occasional issue with CIS's seems to be algae formation. Storing it in the dark (ie, in the box) should help. It being sealed, algae or bacterial growth may not be a problem at least for the short term.
I'd...
The ammonia, once in the printer, will also aggressively attack metals.
It really does take barely any ammonia. The only reason I use 1 part in 10 is because I mix up a lot, and clean a lot of printers, and every time I open it more ammonia evaporates.
My cleaning/purge mixture in cartridges...
Yes, that is what it is. It looks to have some kind of felt or absorbent material in the bottom, but not much.
However, I still have the problem of the yellow cartridge. It shows as 1 bar, which the book says it's at the end of life, although when I can get it to test print it is printing. I am...
The bugger won't let me complete the ink change process if I just plug the same heads back in. I want it to give me the cleaning stations so I can clean them up.
So I did the old trick of getting it to unpark the heads, then used the hard off switch to remove power. Although the cleaning...
The labyrinth is not there to prevent ink leaking, it is there to allow air in, while slowing down drying of the ink which would occur more quickly if there were just a hole. Normally the sponge/felt in the type of cartridge with a labyrinth will not be so saturated that ink drips out.
Some...
I need to refit the other three colors and fill them, I'd hate to run out of ink during testing and run a cart dry.
I also need to get it to give me the cleaning stations/waste ink containters, so I can fill them out. I've not used HP printers much before now, so I'm doing a lot of Googleing...
In testing, I've found that stronger solutions of ammonia do not seem to improve it's ability to break up ink. In fact, solutions much weaker than 10% Household Ammonia to 90% distilled water worked just fine. Someone explained the chemical reasons to me once.
Also, although that site says the...
The fact that they drip- and OEMs don't. If any ink does drip through the head because of this, it will only last until it's run down the ink in the sponge a bit. And one night, or a few pages printed will take care of that.
Because the cartridges in the BJC 6000 (BCI3 black and BCI6 color) are...
How's this? As you can see, I've only done the yellow so far. There is a place near Seattle called The Creation Station, I'd picked up a bunch of unused medical surplus for Mad Scientist-type projects. I cut some of it up and patched it in.
There is a seal on the end of the Luer Lock. I attach...
I just became the happy owner of an HP Designjet 3000cp wide format printer. 54 inch wide prints!! Yowza.
I couldn't really afford it, but it was one of those lucky finds that I'd never come across again. But it's out of ink, has the dye C180xA cartridge/print head installed.
Well, I have...
For this much printing, you are going to spend a lot of time refilling.
I'd figure out which printer you are going to use, and install a bulk ink system into it. Put some research into it, all CIS's are not created equal. Most require you to keep topping the ink up to a specific level or you'll...
That's because you've overfilled them by allowing/forcing the sponge to absorb ink right to the top. I see a lot of people obsessed with removing every last bit of air, even from spongeless cartridges, and this defeats the ink pressure regulation of the cartridge.
InkBat no longer makes CIS, but he has posted his instructions as PDF files. You don't have to find the instructions for that exact model, just something similar. The trickiest part is dressing the hoses, and the ink level. Top level of the ink should be at be between the bottom of the print...
