    G&G 3e black cart problem

My wife is using an old BJC 6000, I have been refilling her carts with all dye inks. First with a refill kit I bought at a close-out store, now with generic dye ink I removed from 3rd party Epson 3000 tanks, all dye including black. I've not had these problems. Of course the dye black will run...

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

Hm. I haven't even connected it to my computer yet. Just been trying to get it to print from the panel. I think I have a paper sensor issue, though. I go through the whole routine to set a roll, and at the end it just goes around the installation again as if I'd just started it over. Now it...

how to dilute Amonia solution and Iso Propyl Alcohol

Wow. That is some concentrated ammonia! I think standard household ammonia is closer to 3 or 4%, so you'll need to use very little of that. My standard mix is: 1 part nonsudsing household ammonia 4 parts 50% or 70% isopropyl alcohol 5 parts steam distilled or filtered water So you'd need to...

    Inkjet Printhead Cleaning Method

Denatured alcohol softens some plastics. There is a problem with using any alcohol when used by itself- it mixes with any water present, diluting it, but then it evaporates quickly. Using just alcohol by itself can potentially make a clog worse. I use isopropyl as part of my cleaning mix.

    Do you wipe it?

No, the sponge (it's really a hard foam) should not touch the print head surface. It works by staying damp, thereby keeping the print head exposed to damp air. So you don't want to keep drying that foam in the park station out. It is supposed to look damp, but it should not look wet and...

    Switch off or leave on?

Yes, despite tales of gloom and dome that some tell, all the Epson, Canon, and HP printers I've used, worked on, etc. all park the heads. I just leave my printers on all the time unless I have some reason to turn them off. They will still occasionally run a cleaning cycle. Nothing that I know...

    suitable cleaning fluid

I use 1 part nonsudsing clear household ammonia, 4 parts clear isopropyl alcohol, 5 parts distilled water. You can skip the isopropyl if you wish and use 1 part ammonia to 9 parts water. Just to clarify for everyone: I don't think he means mix hot water with alcohol and ammonia, I think he...

    Inkjet Printhead Cleaning Method

I strongly suggest against "pure" ammonia. It's corrosive to metals, and with a lot in the cartridge the vapors are a lot stronger. Which is also bad to breath. And it doesn't help the cleaning any. Windex is already highly diluted. And you must be using "Windex with Ammonia D" or it doesn't...

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

I was considering removing the entire ink system and turning it off and on. This tells me I should try turning it on and off several times before reinstalling. These printers are selling on eBay like hotcakes, there must be others out there using them. I would really like to get mine working...

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

Feedthisway emailed me off list about resetting the cartridges. I'd rather discuss this on the list, so others may benefit or be spurred to answer. I have not tried this yet, but it purports to be a way to cause an HP to think it has a new cartridge with HP 15, 17, 23, 41, 45 and 78 cartridges...

    Inkjet Printhead Cleaning Method

Perhaps Mikling was correct about it being a trapped air bubble, and the air has now 1. been sucked out by cleaning cycles 2. risen out of the head (unlikely, through that mesh) 3. been absorbed into the ink. Perhaps a combination of 1. and 2. No, I do not run cleaning cycles unless there is a...

    Nozzle check?

Has anyone ever figured out exactly what a "deep clean" is?

A print head cleaning on a Canon or Epson uses the peristaltic pump under the park pad to suction out some ink, and the rubber/felt wiper to wipe excess ink off the head. A deep clean just seems to run the pump longer, it may also wipe the heads more. What problems? Other than using up a lot of...

    Canon Print Head Alignment

Remember those nozzles are aligned finer than a human hair. And when installed in the holder, can be out of place by a small enough amount that you would have a hard time feeling it shift. My Canon's have an optical sensor that detects alignment, does it automatically. Epson printers require me...

OK. CIS means Continuous Ink System, aka Bulk Feed System BFS, aka lots of other variations.

    Just looking for some updates.....

I had the same worries about my BJC 6000. Then I started seeing them turning up at thrift stores for about $25 each, usually with full (I mean, really full) cartridges. So I bought a bunch of them, cleaned them up, and now have stacks of backup printers. The ink alone would have cost twice that...

    Inkjet Printhead Cleaning Method

We need to know more. CIS? Which brand? OEM cartridges? 3rd party cartidges? Which brand? Refillables? Which brand? You could have a partial clog of the air inlet in the cartridge. A nozzle check only uses a little ink. Printing uses a lot more ink, a partially blocked air inlet might not let...

    Inkjet Printhead Cleaning Method

I would not. Ammonia is a nasty chemical to have around metals, rubbers, and electronics for extended times. It is also going to evaporate out of the cleaning cartridges over time, so eventually they'll just have water in them anyway. I'm reminded of VCR cleaning cartridges: I saw several...

Canon i850 - cross contamination of colors

As Grandad says, clean the park pad first. I strongly suggest -not- using paper towels, because most shed bits of paper. See the link in my sig for more detailed Canon cleaning instructions. I get the printer to flush the park pads by eyedroppering cleaning solution (see my website) into it...
